The Thursday after my 51st birthday, I went to bed with two good eyes. I woke up on Friday with almost no vision in my left eye. I was diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy and directed to Dr. Elshatori. To make a long story short, it has not been an easy, painless, or inexpensive journey. Six months ago I was wondering if I could work, drive, and even where I would live, not knowing if the left eye could be saved or if the same thing would happen on the right. Today, though the journey is not over, I no longer have those concerns because I am quite functional and improving. I owe Dr .Elshatori a debt of gratitude I couldn't begin to repay.
