Been going here for 10 yrs. I was never told I had a problem with my eye until I went to a different place. And the problem did not just pop up within a year, it's been accumulating for years.

This company should be investigated. My eye was left badly scarred by them.
At the time of my treatment I didn't know about the help I could seek to resolve and so this review is written after a suffering several years from the after effects of the incompetence of this company.
Due to my eyes being more than -5 with astigmatism, I could only have one eye worked on at a time (European rules/am European). I had my one of my eyes fixed before leaving Europe for Houston = 15/20 vision and was great! (PRK - the lasik alternative). Was so happy!! Then on arrival in Houston I did all online research and found this place highly commended for eye surgery. I contacted them. Early warnings should have raised flags ... Like never seeing surgeon in person, being assessed by multiple others in the company, and despite questions/concerns not being answered fully, was always "talked out of delaying surgery" by being assured i was a candidate and was at "the best place in Houston" for PRK.
Turns out I arrived for surgery and surgeon was at LEAST 20 years older in person than the picture on their website ... She was at least 70!! She said she was familiar with PRK and it turns puts she wasn't. Not even sure her hand was steady enough through the procedure (felt so different to my eurpoean experience) and ... Ended up that she badly scarred my eye ...VERY Badly. In subsequent follow ups I complained and was offered a 're-do'. Are you kidding me?!? After seeing that old lady and messing up my eye, you want me to go back in there?!? I went elsewhere and they said scarring was so bad I had to wear glasses. I didn't pursue damages ... I should have done but statute of limitations was over before I found out about the great American litigation system. I wish I had!!! BEWARE. SAVE YOUR VISION - Go to man eye institute or Berkeley eye centre... Your eyesight is very precious and this company doesn't deserve giving that away. Don't trust it to this organization :( :(

This review is for standard annual eye exam + contact lens fitting, and I'm comparing Eye Excellence to other locations I've been to.

Parking: no free parking, must pay ~$4-$6
Ambiance: nice building, elegant and nice waiting area, etc.
Wait: longer than standard
Quality of care: standard, since standard eye exams don't vary that much from place to place.

Billing and staff service: Major problems--this is the reason I refuse to be a patient here any longer.

I will admit up front that I made a simple error when I gave them my insurance information. When the insurance claim was denied, instead of investigating or asking me for corrected information, the office just kept submitting the same info over and over again. I never knew there was a problem until they started sending the entire bill to me.

When I got the bill in the mail, I tried calling, emailing, and leaving messages for the office manager, who did not return any of my inquiries until I physically went to the office to see her. (I had to take time off work and pay for parking, which cost more than usual since it took a long time to wait for the manager.)

It turns out that the insurance error could have been very easily corrected, but the office made no effort to investigate, contact me, or even return my repeated inquiries. By the time I finally got hold of the office manager, the time limit for insurance claims had passed, and the office made me pay. Granted, she gave me a discount on the price, but the amount I paid was still more than the full (non-insured) price for the same services at other locations.

The fact that the mistake could have been corrected so easily, but was not, makes me very uncomfortable about how much attention the office staff give to their jobs. I am not at all satisfied with how this office handled my situation, so I am now happily seeing another doctor.
