I originally went in for my free LASIK consultation about 18 months ago, and was told I was not a good candidate (primarily due to the fact that my eyes were still changing, so not a real shocker). I went back last week, and was told I know appeared to be a perfect candidate and we could do the surgery as soon as I was ready. I had the surgery the following morning. Throughout my visits, I met with Dr. Brunson, Dr. Chin, and Dr. Mike Mann. The majority of my time was spent with Dr. Brunson. He and his staff were extremely professional during each of my visits and took the time to talk with me about the results of each of my various scans, and helped me understand why I was / wasn't a good candidate for LASIK. I never felt like I was being rushed out of the office. On the day of the surgery, it was clear how experienced the doctors were - they were excellent at walking you through the procedure, answering any / all questions you had, and keeping you calm. In fact, Dr. Mann (who actually performed the surgery) and his operating staff did a fantastic job during the procedure to keep things light and calm, and talked with me throughout the whole process to make sure I knew what was happening, and to make sure I was doing okay. All in all, the experience was fantastic, from start to finish, and I consider it the best money I have ever spent.I would recommend Mann Eye Institute to anyone, whether you're just interested in a regular eye exam, or if you are interested in LASIK.

Awful! I originally made an appointment with this eye dr. because they were listed as a full-service, preferred provider with my insurance (United Vision/ AKA Spectera). I waited an hour to be called back for my appointment. I used insurance for this visit and they insisted that my insurance would not cover an contact lenses for astigmatism (which I needed), thus they insisted I had to pay $150 contact fitting fee, which in the past has always been paid by my insurance. Come to find out after calling United to verify this myself, my insurance DOES cover contacts for astigmatism and had I known this, my contact fitting would have been 100% covered. Clearly, either the billing staff has absolutely no idea what is going on, or they are being deceitful to get more money.Just to top it off, they dialated my eyes during the exam, and thus I was not able to read my benefits, or call United vision, as I could not see well enough to read until 4 hours later after they had closed. The receptionist did not offer to help whatsoever or call herself to verify , and stated "you will just have to call yourself," leaving me no option than to just pay the $150 I knew I didn't actually owe. What a scam...please! Take your business elsewhere!

Awful!! I will NEVER be returning here!I just moved to Houston from Waco a couple months ago and needed to find a new eye Dr here in the houston area. I decided to give Eye Excellence a try because they were on my insurance's "preferred provider" list (I have United Vision/Spectera). I was just going for a routine exam, so didn't need anything special. My appointment was at 3:30pm and I was not seen by the tech until 430. Staff does not seem to value your time whatsoever. Upon check-out, the billing receptionist stated I owed $150 for a "contact fitting." I have had the same eye insurance for ~ 5 years, and my eye insurance has ALWAYS covered the contact fitting. When explaining this to the receptionist she stated the dr had given me a sample of contacts not on the United formulary, and thus they would not pay for the contact fitting. I explained to her that I would like to try out contacts then that ARE covered by my insurance - she replied there were no contacts on the United formulary list for astigmatism (toric contacts), and thus this would not be possible. To make things worse, at this point I was not able to see hardly anything as my eyes were dialated. The receptionist kept insisting I owe them $150, and stated I would need to call United if I wanted to refute it. I could not see my phone well enough to dial the number, let alone look it up. The receptionist would not help at all. Finally I just gave up out of frustration and paid the $150, knowing I didn't owe it. That evening I ended up calling United Vision once I could see again, only to find out that United DOES have toric contrats on their formularly list, and that these should have been made available to me at the time of my appointment. Furthermore, United Vision stated that if I ended up purchasing contacts on the formulary list, the contact fitting fee is 100% covered. My eye insurance has now advised me to file a complaint for investigation, which I will definitely be doing. The staff here is rude, uninformed, and EXTREMELY deceitfful! Please! Unless you have money to blow, take your business elsewhere!
