This review is strictly for the 5115 Main Street location only.DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT go to this location. I felt like I was at an assembly plant.To give context, I've been wearing glasses since 1988. I switched to wearing contacts in 1996. Every single year (since 1988), I have been seeing an eye doctor for an annual exam and prescription refill (whether that be for glasses or contacts). My point in saying that is to say that I'm not brand new when it comes to visiting an eye doctor. I normally visit the Mann Eye Deerbrook location (which I love). But since I live in central Houston, I thought it would be more feasible to switch to a central Houston location like 5115 Main Street.I will NEVER go back to this location...NEVER EVER EVER!!! They have way too many patients and not enough doctors; therefore, creating the presumption of having all of these "assistants". I was scheduled to see Dr. Chin and my assigned assistant for the visit was named Vanessa. To be fair, all of the staff that I interacted with was friendly. However, I have NEVER (and I repeat) NEVER had a doctor's assistant complete 80% of the eye exam and that included examining my eye, dilating and running additional tests on my eye and determining my prescription (I REPEAT)...DETERMINING MY PRESCRIPTION!!! WTF??!! All of this was done BEFORE...BEFORE...BEFORE the doctor came into the room and looked at me at all. I spent a whole hour in the patient room with THE ASSISTANT while she examined me and wrote what felt like a whole periodical in my chart. I mentioned on a number of occasions (to the assistant) that their way of patient review was very foreign to me and I was not comfortable. When the doctor finally came into the room (an hour after my scheduled appointment time), she was not planning on examining me to determine whether my eye prescription has changed. Did you hear what I said??? She was going to rely on THE ASSISTANT'S findings. ABSOLUTLY NOT!! I made the doctor (Dr. Chin) re-examine my eyes. But guess what...there wasn't a whole lot of confidence in my exam because MY EYES WERE ALREADY FREAKING DIALATED!!! I CAN'T SEE SHIT!!! Again, I've ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS had an eye doctor personally examine my eyes BEFORE AND AFTER eye dilation. I'm self pay. My eye exam is typically around $180-$200 (which includes exam and eye dilation at the lovely Deerbrook location). I ended up paying $275 because the assistant gave me a number of tests that I didn't know I could choose from. I was livid with my experience at the 5115 Main location and they knew it. I will NOT recommend them to anyone. DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT, go here. Pick a location in the suburbs. The suburb locations are smaller and way more attentive. The suburb doctors actually examine their patients instead of relying on assistants to do it.

Everyone here was so kind and friendly! Devyn had to deal with a very difficult patient at the front desk and she handled it very professionally. Nancy was my work up tech and was AMAZING! I'm a nurse and I just appreciated her professionalism and her explaining to me every step along the way. I liked Dr. Chin as well. She gave free eye drops to help with my dryness. And also made sure that I would follow up before my two year warranty was up after my lasik surgery if I needed any tweaking for my astigmatism. I would HIGHLY recommend 10/10.

I have been a patient at Mann Eye Institute for many years and have always received exceptional care. Everyone is friendly, caring and very professional. I have received quality care for cataract surgery, glaucoma and general eyecare.

Everything was really clean. People were really nice and explained everything. The doctor is so nice too, he explain every detail and answered all my questions. I would really recommend them.
