Staff very friendly and professional. I enjoyed the music and Dr Melton singing. :-) I was nerves having surgery on my eye but it was easier than the routine eye test I get. Two days after cateract surgery only on one eye, I am not using glasses to answer this survey. Awesome! Can't wait to have my other eye done in a couple of weeks.

NOTE: This review is for a contact lens eye exam, not for surgery.

I have mixed feelings about my experience here at Mann. The people were amazing, but everything else was just a tiny bit off.

I made my appointment three months before. I scheduled it over the phone. I then contacted my former optometrist (I had moved, and he was retiring anyway) and asked him to fax my records. The Mann scheduler had given me the phone number.

The next day, I called to see if they had received them. The person at Mann said yes. All is good.

At my appointment, I walked in, signed in (no one was at the counter), and then a couple of minutes later, was called to the front desk. I needed to go to the third floor and sign in there instead. Hmmm... OK.

I go up to 3. The receptionist there says I need to go to 2. The reason? They're "slammed" today and are shuttling doctors to different floors. Weird, but OK.

I go to 2. No signing in. They pull up my info and I am brought back within five minutes. The tech enters in my medical history from my new patient paperwork. The computer system she was using was running on Windows 2000 and seemed to be from the stone ages. It was so slow that she was visibly frustrated and/or embarrassed.

I asked if my records were in there. She said no, but then said "we don't need them anyway." Well, OK.

Then --here's where it gets good -- the phoropter (the thing you look through with "is 1 or 2 better", aka a refractor) was broken. So, we gather everything and go BACK up to 3 so she can do my refraction. We do that, then we grab everything and go back down to 2 for my dilation to kick in.

About 10 minutes goes by and finally I meet Dr. Brunson, who was an awesome doctor. He was super kind and patient. He was fairly thorough and seemed to be in no hurry, which I appreciated (even though they were "slammed.") I recommend him and the rest of the staff. He did a second refraction just to make sure my Rx was correct, and he gave me tons of samples including an entire strip of contacts.

So why am I mixed? Because the staff, from reception to physician, were outstanding. I was very happy with them. But it seemed like the building and organization was a bit dated and unorganized. The broken equipment, the seemingly outdated computer situation -- I expect more from one of the top eye care centers in the city.

I had an awesome experience at Mann Eye. Had lasik surgery and I'm very pleased. I'm not sure why I waited so long! No regrets!
