Appointment was for 10:15.... Showed up at 10:10 and sat until 11:15. An hour wait at the eye doctor seriously ??! Slowest moving place I have ever been.

Efficiency to a T! No long wait in the lobby, knowledgable, friendly staff in and out in 45 minutes for my first visit. Very glad I switched to Mann Eye!

DISCLAIMER: This review is rather lengthy and covers all aspects of my experience with Mann Eye so far (This review was written the day after my surgery). This review is for a LASIK procedure performed on both eyes. Background:Im 23 with a very mild prescription (nearsighted, -1.50 in both eyes, very slight astigmatism). Worn glasses for 10+ years with no prescription change in the last 6 years.Consultation:Their free consultation was 10x more thorough than just seeing my optometrist: they check your visual acuity, eye pressure, map corneas, check retinas, and more. The consultation was about 2 hours long and completely painless. It turned out I was a candidate! I was not pressured to schedule the surgery, rather I was advised to think about it and call/stop in with any questions or concerns. I was given a full explanation of the surgery, what to expect and potential rare complications.I worked with Ashley to book the surgery and answer remaining questions. She explained everything in laymans terms and made me feel very comfortable. Since its elective, most insurance does not cover it, however be sure to ask about any discounts that are applicable. I was able to get a discount based on my employer as well as for paying for the surgery in full. I emailed Ashley the next day to book. I booked the surgery for 5/31/19 with Dr. Mike Mann.Day of surgery:I was first seen by a medical assistant. She explained all of the post-op rules and restrictions, as well as what drops to use and when. I was then seen by an optometrist who double and triple checked the measurements gathered during my initial consult. Then I met Dr. Mann who checked my eyes one last time before prepping for surgery. I was given a good dose of Ibuprofen, Valium and eye numbing drops before entering the laser room. My eyes and face were cleaned as well. The surgery itself was smooth. The first laser creates the corneal flap; this seemed like the longest part of the surgery since it takes a minute to get your eye positioned, and several seconds for the laser to create the flap. No pain, just a bit of discomfort since your eye is suctioned in place. You are asked to stare into a ring of light. Right before the flap is created, you do lose vision for a few seconds due to the pressure from the suction, but this is normal. I was aware of all of this before the surgery. The second laser performs the vision correction. This was a breeze; I was asked to stare at a blinking green light. After a few seconds, the laser begins the correction; no pain or discomfort. You do smell a burning smell, but this is normal and is from the gas the laser emits.I was then guided to the post-op room. My vision first looked like I had opened my eyes underwater. Dr. Mann checked the flap placement and gave me the thumbs up to go home and sleep.Post-surgery:After my nap (easy after the Valium), my vision was already clearer.First post-op visit (day after):I was asked about any discomfort I had. They checked the corneal flaps to ensure they were healing properly. Then, they performed a vision check; to my surprise, I had between 20/15 and 20/12 vision THE DAY AFTER! They even said that my vision would likely improve even more. There are more post-op visits to come.Key Takeaways:Everyone I met at Mann Eye Institute was extremely professional, knowledgeable and treated me like family. All tests and procedures were very thorough and I felt very comfortable about the surgery. After surgery, I have no pain whatsoever. I do face slight dryness (completely normal, much better after using drops given) and some halos under bright lights (normal and will disappear over time). Thats it!If you are considering having LASIK done, you should look no further than to Mann Eye Institute. So far, the surgery as been worth every penny.I will update this review as time goes on. Thank you for helping me see life better, Mann Eye!

I don't know where I would be without Mann Eye Institute. I am very thankful for how thorough and friendly they were . I got cataract removal and they installed the lenses in my eyes to give me my vision so I could function on a day to day basis. Thank you.

I went there for a couple years. I had cataract surgery there. My surgeon was awesome. I saw several doctors there they were all great until I saw Dr Mann. There were some issues after my surgery and they called in Dr.Mann to check out my eyes. For me he was a little bit odd, and even worse when he left the room and kissed me on the cheek. Just did it for me I found that disturbing, rude and downright questionable. My husband was in the room with me he was bothered by it also. I used to love going in to see dr. K. But I have now switched to Berkeley as I cannot bring myself to go back in that office. This happened a couple years ago and it still bothers me.
