I HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE AT MANN EYE INSTITUTE! I was referred to them by my optometrist, for cataract surgery. At my first visit, I explained that I was tired of taking my glasses on and off for distance, and for reading and close up vision. I had a pair of reading glasses, but never needed them. They recommended the premium cataract laser surgery. I was told I would not have to wear glasses. On occasion, I may have to wear reading" glasses. They also stated that this procedure would improve my night vision. I was very excited to have the surgery done! Dr. Mike Mann said I would be able to see20/20!Dr. Paul Mann performed the first surgery, on my right eye. I was told to call if I had any discomfort, such as tearing, redness, floaters, etc. That evening, I called the number on the the follow-up instructions given to me. A "Dr. Mann" returned my call. He was very pleasant. He said for me to go in the next morning. He would have the staff put me on the schedule. The following morning I went in, and one of the staff members said that Dr. Paul Mann did not have me on the schedule, but that he would see me. He was very rude and told me that he had not spoken to me the night before! I showed him the sheet of paper with the phone number on it. He hit his pocket, containing his cell phone, and said,"You did not call me! I have my phone with me at all times! That is not my number!"Dr. Mike Mann, Dr. Paul Mann's father, must have returned my call, the night before.I spoke with Dr. Mike Mann, about what happened and told him how rude his son had been. He apologized and said he would perform the surgery on my left eye, and he did.I have had nothing but problems since my surgeries. My eyes are now worse! I must use three pairs of prescription glasses; a pair for distance, a pair of reading glasses, and a pair of prescription sunglasses. I have to wear glasses at ALL times! I am unable to read the dials or keypads on the microwave, air fryer, thermostat, alarm system, etc. I must use a flashlight to see the dials! This is very frustrating and ridiculous! My eyes are very dry and I must use two types of eye drops daily. They do not help! I have experienced more headaches, feeling disoriented, anxiety, and frustration! I have blurry and cloudy vision, and see halos around lights. My eyes tear due to the dryness. I cannot be under a ceiling fan; it dries my eyes and they tear! Why were all these side effects/possible complications not explained to me?I was not a good candidate for this procedure due to my medical condition already causing dry eyes. The doctors had my medical history and should have reviewed it before recommending the surgery.I paid close to $10,000 for the procedures, prescriptions, follow-up visits, parking, gas, my husband's time off work to drive me to my appointments, etc.I should have had the basic cataract surgery covered by insurance. I would still have my $10,000 and not have the extremely dry eyes, headaches, anxiety, frustration, etc!I sent several letters by certified mail to Dr. Mike Mann about my disappointment of the outcome. He never replied. My husband and I spoke to him at my office visit. We asked for some type of compensation. My husband said he would put it on social media. Dr. Mann got angry and yelled in my husband's face that he had better not put it on social media! I left the office in tears on more than one occasion. Please do your research before getting any procedure done, and read EVERY DISCLOSURE, before you sign. If it states that you may have to wear glasses, be sure to insert "READING", before GLASSES.Not everyone is a candidate for the premium surgery. Mann Eye Institute should review the medical history with each patient. Both the patient and the doctor should have a clear understanding before proceeding with any procedure.I know this is a lengthy review, but felt I needed to share my experience.
