Go Somewhere Else!! unless you like getting talked down to

So i read the reviews on here and was a little hesitant, but wiling to give it a shot. I regret this decision very much now.
It started of well the med assistant was nice and then the intern who looked at me was okay too.
But then Dr. Seiff came in, and without shaking my or my mother's hand, began to ask me questions. He seemed dissatisfied that I had never received any surgery for my condition and his manner was one of indifference. He then proceeded to chastise my mother for not getting me surgery (which i had never wanted and do not want now).

Then he went off about how it was likely difficult for me to deal with my appearance (how i would have to explain it to friends and potential mates) and that surgery would be the best option. But in his whole little tirade he never once, asked ME (the patient it affected) if i even wanted surgery. Maybe he though I was too stupid to have an opinion, because he did seem to have this high and mighty attitude.

It doesnt matter how good the doctor is or how renouned, if he cant deal with his patients in a professional and humane manner I dont want him. All Dr. Seiff did was piss me off a lot, and made me never want to go back to pacific eye again.

Avoid, Avoid, Avoid. So I cant really speak for the actual eye doctors given you never get to see them, that is my first complaint. They book you with an optometrist who then nickels and dimes you - they charged me 100$ just for a 15 minute basic eye check when i couldnt see (bc of what turned out to be faulty contact lenses). I'm sorry - what is the deal with optometrists calling themselves doctors?

I highly recommend seeing Danny Lin, MD at Pacific Eye Associates. He has great bedside manners and gives honest, straight-forward recommendations for any potential problems. However, please DO NOT buy any frames or have your glasses replaced at the little office towards the back area at this establishment. I had to deal with two old female "dragons" working there, and let me tell you....they need to have a lesson in customer service!

I became a Yelp member JUST to review Dr. So, and lo and behold, why am I not surprised that there is already a negative review about him?

I completely agree with Robyn's review below about Dr. Scott C. So. I was also assigned to him at Pacific Eye Associates, and his rudeness and abrupt manner was a complete turn-off. I, too, waited for about half an hour to 40 minutes until he was able to see me. When I told Dr. So about my ailments (dry-eye, redness, etc.), he was quite dismissive and gave me around 15 minutes of his time (after the already mentioned 30-40 min. wait) with a quick diagnosis which he sped through so much that I had to ask follow-up questions out of confusion.

What really upset me is the way he approached the reasons why I had the symptoms that caused my dry-eye, plus the fact that I had not had my eyes checked in awhile. I admit that I could have been more knowledgeable in terms of contact lenses/vision check-ins, but there's a way to let patients know the importance of this without making them feel so belittled. In my defense of being naive, I very clearly jokingly said, "Oh, well I'm still young!" . He looked at my chart and responded meanly, "You're 23. You're not THAT young!" Maybe I am being too sensitive, but I think that comment was uncalled for, unless it was reciprocated in the same joking manner (which it was not -- i suppose you had to be there).

Long story short, I had no problems with Pacific Eye Associates (though the receptionists seem quite harried) as a whole, but the next time I have eye problems, I will specifically state NOT to have Dr. So.

Very mixed, although I have been going here for a decade, I do keep considering looking for a new place. Having a lot of opthamologists and optometrists makes it convenient. But the waiting room is pretty grim, and that is important because they almost always make you wait a long time. Half an hour is standard, although they break it up by having a nurse give you an eye test while you wait for the doctor; then you return to wait some more. And the doctors are a mixed bag. I've had separate emergencies handled by Dr. Atkins and Dr. Allen, and both are brusque and uncommunicative. They seem to know their stuff, but if they don't share enough info with the patient, that isn't very helpful. Dr. Atkins particularly I would not be treated by again. Yet Dr. Heiden is wonderful -- a very high standard of care and thoroughness as well as expertise -- so is Dr. Lin. And most of the optometrists seem fine.
