I am very happy to report that my experience at Pacific Eye Associates this week could not have been better! Things have definitely changed for the better there! The wait to check in was very brief and Marc, the gentleman who took my insurance information and co-pay was pleasant and efficient. My time waiting for Dr. Oxford was so minimal that I was surprised when they called my name so soon after I sat down in the waiting area. Brenda, who brought me into the exam room and took me through the first part of the eye exam, was super friendly and answered the questions I asked with a smile. Dr. Oxford was thorough, attentive to my questions, knows her stuff, and has a refreshingly humorous attitude. She not only took top-notch care of my eyes, she made me laugh and relax which I really appreciate from a doctor. She is totally delightful! I needed to be referred to a neuro ophthalmologist and she was able to refer me to an expert right in the same office.

When it was time to check out and book my appointment with the specialist, that is when I was most pleasantly surprised! Lana G. was amazing! She went out of her way, literally, to make sure I could get in to see the specialist as soon as possible so I didn't have to spend an extra month worrying. She actually got up from her seat at the front desk and went back to the doctors' offices to work out the best option for me. I'm beyond grateful for her A+++ care and attention. While I was waiting for Lana G. to return to the front desk, I struck up a conversation with Marisol who sits next to Lana. She had overheard my conversation with Lana G. and offered some very comforting comments and advice which definitely made me feel like she cared too. These fantastic professionals made me change my opinion of the experience that a patient will have at Pacific Eye Associates. The doctors have always been top notch as have their exam assistants, but the equally important part of the patient experience, if Lana G. and Marisol are any indication, has risen from a D to an A+++!

I hope that whoever runs the front office and is responsible for the patient experience will realize that the way patients are treated by the people at the front desk is critical to patient satisfaction and ultimately, will either help Pacific Eye Associates thrive with a stellar reputation or be hurt by word of mouth that people hate going there, not because of the doctors, but because of the experiences they've had at the front desk or while trying to get an appointment over the phone. Fortunately, you won't have to worry about each patient if you treat the people who work at your front desk with respect and kindness. Perhaps there has already been a change at that level which resulted in my phenomenal experience. It's not easy to deal with a constant stream of patients who all have needs and personalities that you have to accommodate while maintaining a pleasant disposition. I had never had a bad experience with a doctor at PEA and until now, I had never had a good experience checking in or checking out. In fact, the office experience has always led me to carefully weigh whether the quality of the doctors and the convenience of the location were worth having to deal with the unpleasant office experience. Obviously, if you read the Yelp reviews, you can see that my feelings about PEA prior to today's visit are very common. Whatever has been done to make the patient experience at PEA is definitely working. I think the new, roomier front desk area helps because people don't appear to be herded into too small of a space and tripping all over each other. I hope the improvements for the patients and the professional people who work at the front desk are permanent and expanding. It's simply good business to make people feel good at their first and last point of contact with your business.

I want to thank everyone at PSA including Marc, Brenda, and Dr. Oxford, for a 5 star experience from beginning to end. I'm dealing with a potentially life-altering diagnosis and the kindness and care that Lana G. and Marisol extended to me as I made the appointment with the neuro eye specialist made me leave that office with a heartfelt smile on my face. I will now happily and enthusiastically recommend Pacific Eye Associates to my friends!

Had an 8am appointment with Dr. Allen. Showed up at 7:45 as requested and completed all paperwork. Told to take a seat and I would be called. At 8:30 asked reception when I could expect to get in. They couldn't give me a time. I said I couldn't wait any longer. My time is just as valuable. They asked if I wanted to reschedule. What's the point? Didn't get in the first time.

I come to this office because I have no choice. They give the worse phone and personal service. The staff has 0-3 people skills. They make you feel they do not need your business and that they are doing you favor for even acknowledging your presence. I am really going to make an effort and ask my new internist to refer me elsewhere. The staff is also totally disorganized and the workflow is beaurocratic.

At first I thought Dr Oxford was knowledgable and could help. Nothing she tried did help. When I called and spoke to her staff about another appointment to see what else could be done, I was told I was too old to help. Ageism bigotry! I tried another reknown opthamologist who did not help me but recognized I needed a more specialized opthamologist and referred me to a clinic at UCSF. After 14 years of trying to get relief, I am 98% better. Do not waste your time in this office.
