I and my wife come to Pacific Eye Associates (Dr. Jennifer Sung) for regular eye exams. To us the biggest complaint with this clinic is the excessive wait time. We are diligent about arriving on time. Usually there's about 30 minutes waiting before the assistant / technician takes us for the basic tests. The pupils are dilated and then the real wait begins - they say it'll be 20-30 minutes but in reality it is about an hour wait.

Dr. Lin is probably great - he was very personable during the short time spent with him - but his office OMG so bad First I called them a bit in advance to see if they wanted me to get the records from my prior opthamologist and after speaking with 1 rude guy and the system hanging up on me I was told quite brusquely NO Back to the visit - I was given paperwork to check out and sat in 1 of the chairs at the sign that said Please Wait Here for Checkout - this is a VERY busy practice and there are at least 12-15 people waiting in chairs and coming and going at any 1 time, and 4 clerks at the desk - after I sat for about 10 minutes, the one on the corner asked if I was waiting to check out and told me 'you should be standing over there!' - i walked over and read to her what the sign said, but said I would know better on my next visit. They apparently only see patients for 2 short windows in a week, so nothing was available (over 1 year later!) that worked well, but it was take it or leave it - I said then this wasn't working out too well, at which she said 'you're probably better off with another doctor'!

I received good medical care from two doctors (including Dr. Zaidi), but not so much from a third, who did not dilate my eyes for a scan that she said could have had more accurate results if she had dilated them. It seemed like a waste. Her diagrams of the eyes were also missing labels, so it wasn't clear what the results were. The handwritten reports can also be hard to read. Pacific Eye Associates also does not let patients request corrections to their medical records, which is supposed to be a legal right protected by HIPAA. Instead, they try to persuade you to make a new appointment immediately with the previous doctor or another doctor, and if you don't, they say you can't return as a patient. It is also a violation of HIPAA to penalize a patient for trying to correct a medical record. Would suggest looking for care for your eyes elsewhere.

The employees are fine BUT make no other plans for the day of your appointment as you will be there a minimum of two hours. You will be ushered several times into different exam rooms and returned to the waiting room in between room changes. The waiting area will ALWAYS have a minimum of 20 people sitting there with family members or on their cell phones. The staff turnover (not Doctors) is incredible. No one will remember you from prior visits. The care here is fine but the time wait is disrespectful. The only thing they do quickly is bill you and your insurance.
