The optometrist, Thomas King, is possibly the most unprofessional person I've ever encountered. He actually sent an insulting message to my work email address in response my earlier Yelp review (below). Apparently I was right--he is rude and short-tempered, as well unprofessional and obviously lacking in judgment.

Notably, the manager was dismayed by this optometrist's behavior when I called to report what happened. Unfortunately, I assume the manager will not be able to correct this optometrist's unprofessional attitude and conduct.

My visit was for an optometry exam. It should have been pretty easy. It wasn't.

First of all, I didn't care for the way I was treated here. Customer service is nil.

Secondly, the place is a mill filled with with teeny, airless little exam rooms and possibly hundreds of people passing through every day.

The minute you ask for the most basic service the up-selling begins. No thanks.

The visit was a waste of transportation, time and parking fees.

When you have a place like Richmond Vision Care why would anyone want to go to an overcrowded, stuffy, airless, impersonal hospital floor for something simple like an optometry visit especially when they don't even accept basic insurance.

Not me!

Five stars with the caveat that I didn't actually see a doctor or go to my appointment.

I searched in my network for eye doctors in San Mateo and somehow managed to find this one in SF. Not paying attention to the address or area code, I went ahead and scheduled the appointment via their webpage. I got several helpful emails from their office prior to the appointment explaining their fees and other details.

Two hours before my appointment, I finally noticed that the office is deep into SF, and even if I left right then, there was very little chance of me making it on time during rush hour. I called to see what their cancellation policy is, and the nice lady on the phone said there was no fee for cancellation for Dr. Inger's appointments, and she kindly cancelled it right away.

Sorry I can't give a more thorough review, but I was left with a good impression of Pacific Eye Associates and would visit them if I lived in the area.

I made an appointment to get a routine eye exam, and this location seemed to be the closest to my house, based on in-network referrals from my insurance.
Cons:
- The facility is under construction so the lobby feels cramped and can be loud.
- Parking in the area is very difficult, unless you decide to overpay to park in the garage (no thanks).
- Wait time for a SCHEDULED appointment was nearly 1 hour. After I was escorted to a room, waited another hour for the Dr to show up.
- Extremely minimal communication from staff about why it's taking so long to see your doctor for an exam that takes no more than 10 minutes (excluding time needed to dilate pupils).
- Misdiagnosis of my results, leading to a $200 bill, which I had to get corrected, resulting in a $15 co-pay.

Pros:
- They're close-ish to my house...

Hmm hardly seems worth it.
