I love Dr. Karen Oxford. A. she's smart & knows what she's doing B. She follows up and answers all your questions C. She actually is so open minded that she invited another doctor to visit me during my visit to check her theory (btw I didn't ask her to do that, she just wanted to be sure..) Anyways, bottom line is she's awesome!!

I never thought I would no longer be going here. But, I had gotten opinions from UCSF about my eye; man, did everyone here not reveal a lot to me. I trusted Dr. Reader, Dr. So, Dr. Wayne Fung, Dr. Anne Fung, & Dr. Sung all these years & they let me down, putting my eye at great risk.UCSF found some cyclitic membranes on top of the scar tissue & glaucoma tube. They also had a hard time seeing in because of my pupil being small & the membranes. So, I ended up having as many cyclitic membranes removed as possible, scar tissue along with the defective glaucoma tube removed, & a pupiloplasty to let more light in. Man, is mty vision better. UCSF also ran a few b scans along with an ultrasound bio microscopy which led to all these findings which no one at Pacific Eye Associates did. In the faul, I am having a corneal transplant at UCSF because of my edemadous opaque cornea which is because of the tube pushing on my cornea for so long. I cannot believe these guys had such a nonchalant black & white attitude, only wanting to remove the tube at that; I am never coming back; I am staying at UCSF where it is the real deal. I will miss the friendly staff.

overall, a poor experience. Expect to wait a long time in a stuffy, windowless reception room. They dont use the glaucoma test machine so you will have to have your eyes dilated (most eye doctors stopped doing this 15-20 years ago-- pacific eye is waaaaay behind in the latest in opthamology). And, the kicker is that the eye doctor has an arrangement with the in-house optician so your eye doctor will NOT take your pupil measurements-- this leaves you with an incomplete prescription for glasses. I wont be going back!

If I could give Pacific Eye Associates 10 stars I would. I first went there with my husband when he had cataract surgery with Dr. Danny Lin. Dr. Lin was great during the surgery, and I took my husband to his follow up appointment. I was a little taken aback by the number of people in the waiting room, but they have things streamlined beautifully. They ask for your name, you sit, they call you to the front desk quickly to verify your insurance etc, and then within a few minutes he was seeing Dr. Lin, who was checking out his eye, and telling him he was good to go (until the second surgery the next week).
We live in Marin, so when I had trouble with one of my eyes - I was seeing double even after getting new glasses, I was reluctant to go to the city (my husband works in the city so it's not such a big deal for him). My optometrist sent me to an ophthalmologist in Marin. I won't go through the horror story (you can check Dr. Najafi's page for that) but I was bounced from her, to a retinal specialist, and finally a Facebook friend said it sounded like her cataracts. Back to Dr. Najafi who said "oh look it is cataracts" and scheduled surgery for both eyes (although only one eye had them). I was a little nervous about this, so my husband convinced me to get a second opinion from Dr. Lin.
I went to Pacific Eye Associates. Of course Dr. Najafi's office hadn't yet sent my records, but they did their own tests anyway. MUCH more extensive than any of the THREE doctors I had seen in Marin. Finally I had a vision test with the "which is better, #1 or #2" thing and suddenly I wasn't seeing double.
Dr. Lin, who is a SURGEON, gave me three options. he said my left eye has cataracts which seem to be growing, and my right eye has a very small one (overlooked by all other doctors). I could have surgery on the left eye, with a lens only slightly better than my natural lens, or have a multifocal lens and wear a contact in my right eye. he refused to do surgery on a perfectly good eye (which the other surgeon was eager to do). Finally he said I could get new glasses, which would make my vision good for a while anyway, giving me time to see what the cataracts would do. Imagine, a surgeon who did not push surgery! I am going with the latter option, and will see him again in a year to see how my cataracts are progressing. What a HUGE relief!
I can't recommend them highly enough - no trouble with the front desk, although the appointment was over two hours, that's the same as at all the other doctors I saw, and I went from test to test quickly. Sat about 10 minutes waiting to dilate, but that was really the only waiting I did. THANK YOU to all the staff who were so nice when I was so worried!
