I've only had experience with Dr. Fung, who is wonderful, but apparently not on the fulltime staff anymore. She's why I didn't give only one star.

The administrative aspect of this practice is really terrible. The billing department has been using the wrong code for the [monthly] procedure, so every month a rejection letter comes from insurance. I've tried 3-4x to get this corrected, but have given up. Eventually they seem to work it out, but what a waste.

Someone described the place as a "mill" - yes, it's very busy, noisy, and hectic.

Many staff are unprofessional and unhelpful.

If you have a choice in the matter, go somewhere else for your eye care to save yourself administrative headaches.

I had been having some blurred vision in my right eye, so I decided to get it checked out. I wanted to start with a regular eye exam, seeing as I had never had one, and wanted to do that first before getting into the more complicated stuff that my insurance doesn't cover. When scheduling my appointment, I told them that even though I had the "visual disturbance" as they put, I wanted to start with a routine eye exam, since I was positive that my insurance covered that. They assign me to Dr. Heiden. I go in, the nurse (or whatever they are) dilates me, and does a visual exam, then does the retinal scan. No big deal right? Then Dr. Heiden comes in, talks to me for 2 minutes, gives me a color blindness test, and tells me that everything is totally normal. I pay my co-pay, and leave. 2 months later I get a bill for $200 because they billed it as a "medical" visit instead of an eye exam *which is what I specifically asked for!*

When I called for an explanation they said my "visit had services that go beyond a routine eye exam". When I asked for some clarity they just repeated that my "visit had services beyond a routine eye exam". When I asked to push this up the chain they told me that the "executive director" who handles these issues was on vacation and wouldn't be back until next week. They called me 2 days later and said I was S.O.L. When I asked about the executive director they told me that they reviewed my file on their own and said I "received services beyond a routine eye exam". I still haven't heard from the "executive director", or what exactly those "services beyond a routine eye exam" that I received were.

So basically, if you want to go somewhere where they don't follow your wishes, charge you out the ass, and don't fix your problem, you found your place. Needless to say my one visit here will be my only visit.
