I am a patient of Dr. Ann Fung at Pacific Eye Care hospital in San Francisco.I have seldom seen the level of competence , maturity and technical expertise in a doctor so young.Dr. Fung is brilliant and yet very unassuming and friendly. I really feel safe in her care.

Dr. Karen Oxford is fantastic. She is friendly, warm, caring, extremely knowledgeable. I go to her for my annual eye exams as well as to get my tear ducts plugged. I highly recommend her. My only complaint is that it takes a while to get an appointment with her, but that is typical of most great doctors.

Yes, this office has problems, and yet I'm giving it 5 stars. This is based on the doctors I've been seeing for the past few years, Dr. Annie Fung and Scott So.

I see a few people think Dr. So is pretty jerky, and I totally understand the whole "dismissive" thing--he has this sort of sarcastic (? I'm not really sure that's the right word) sense of humor that can make you feel like a moron. He will laugh at you if you did something stupid to hurt your own eye or if your floaters are the size of grapefruit. But I honestly think it's more of a personality trait than him being mean. If you don't like that sort of Sarah Silverman type of humor, you might not want to see him. But I think he's really kind. Other than that, both he and Dr. Fung are very attentive and answer my crazy collection of questions every time I'm there.

The reception area is a bit nuts. There is a Russian woman who can be quite rude, but if you are persistent you might get a smile out of her. I guess the office is so crazy that there is no way for it not to seem chaotic up at the front. Also, you will WAIT to see the doctor. Always add in an additional 45 minutes to the time you plan to stay there and bring a good book.

I wish I could review the care I received at Pacific Eye Associates, but I didn't get any. After waiting practically 2 hours, and having been told at the pre-exam that the doctor might want to dilate my eyes later, oh heck no, I wasn't waiting around for that. I'm not sure I can trust doctors that can't handle their business efficiently, as that demonstrates at least some level of incompetency, so in some ironic way I guess I'm glad I didn't get seen. Since Yelp forces us to rate a minimum of one star, I will at least say that I am glad that my copay was refunded swiftly.
