Karen Oxford has been my eye doctor since I arrived in San Francisco. I found her, in an emergency, when one of my contacts caused a pretty severe eye infection. Although I was a brand new patient, she made time for me on a Friday morning, and then kept in touch with me all weekend as I followed her instructions and applied eye drops every few hours. Since then I have gone to her for my annual eye appointment and have never regretted it. She's smart, funny, and takes the time to explain to me what is going on with my eyes, and even how to figure out my insurance. I strongly recommend her.

Good doctors but long wait time . . . . office primary objective is more about $$$ than patients. They are also VERY expensive. I was told $200 for a perscription examination. You can get the same thing downtown in SF for about $75-$95.

Should be zero star. Terrible customer service. Terrible doctors. Went for eye exam with dr. King and dr. Oxford. The whole purpose was to get fitted for contact lenses. I went with my prescription to get my new contacts and the people said these are for eye glasses. I then called the Pathetic Eye Associates and asked them to fa my contact perscription. It never happened. I called back 8 times over a two month period and kept getting dr king and dr. Oxford are out or we will call you back. Finally today someone told me that I never had the exam. Why couldn't they have told me they messed up two months ago and I need to come back in. Now I am going away and will not have contact lenses for my trip. Rude doctors and rude help!

I have not been back there since. My optomitrist has been more helpful.

The problems with this office can be summed up with one sentence: Lame front office. The doctors are all awesome but dealing with the office staff is stressful and irritating.

I've been a patient for six years and have had two billing problems with them. The first was resolved after several phone calls. In the latest, I distinctly remember paying the $60 refraction fee for my contacts check up (because it always irks me to pay $60 on top of my $10 co-pay when I don't even want new contacts and usually don't order them till my next checkup so it's really just an additional $60 I pay for no reason). But because the person who handled my checkout was a trainee, now over a year later and at least 5 calls and one mailed note, they still can't find record of my $60 payment. It took two phone calls to the billing department to find this out. The billing staff, while super friendly, were ultimately not able to resolve the issue.

So my choices are find a new eye doctor with a competent office staff or pay $120 total or something I didn't need in the first place just to see doctors that I know and like.
