We wanted to dine here prior to a concert and were told there was a 20 to 30 minute wait. We said that 30 minutes was the upper limit we could wait because of the show, and the hostess said it would be no problem. Fast forward...we waited 45 minutes. It would have been nice if the hostess had been more accurate because we would have just selected a different restaurant. I deducted a star for the hostess being between 25 and 15 minutes off in her estimate.

Since we were in a hurry at this point, we opted for cups of haddock and clam chowder to start and a chicken Caesar and a wedge salad for dinner. One person also got the fried oyster appetizer for dinner. All of the food was very good. We would have enjoyed having a round or two of cocktails and more substantial meals, but we just didn't have the time to wait. Our waiter Luigi was prompt and happy to help us on our way.

I would return but would leave myself more time if I was eating before a show.

Our group had the seafood scampi, lobster mac n cheese, scallop roll, the calamari angus burger and fried seafood sampler. Everything was delicious!! Sat outside and the view of the harbor was beautiful. Would come here again for sure!

Definitely not my favorite, would actually prefer Red Lobster for the $. Next time I'm in Portland I'll spend a little more time exploring the coast for a go-to lobster joint.

Being local, I've eaten here over 25 times. My first comment....I eat here when I want good fresh shellfish....which Dimillo's does very well. The deck on the bar side is an excellent choice on a nice summer day...Which I'd recommend.

The steamers are excellent, clean, and well portioned. The fried clams are also very good...the bellies burst when bitten. The lobster stew is excellent, with claws, knuckles, and a creamed sherry base. The clam chowder is rich, thick, and full of clams. The shrimp cocktail are huge....and a great meal when pared with the bacon and blue cheese wedge salad.

The lobsters are excellent...you can go lazy....steamed, baked stuffed....or my once a year decadence....the lobster stuffed baked stuffed....delicious.

I'll make a couple other quick comments....I've been in the Dimillo's kitchen on more than one occasion.....the kitchen is spotless....the cleanest I've ever seen commercially. The wine list is very value based, with several named selections at reasonable prices.

Enjoy this place....they do lobster and shellfish first rate....and the view is top notch.

4 stars

The view is five star if that is what you are looking for. Even the walk doen from the street is nice. The service was average, our waiter mentioned having alergies but his runny nose really made my appetite sour. The berries and cheese appetizer was excellent. It came with blackberries, bluberries and strawberrirs with a large ball of baby mozzarella topped with chopped basil and a balsamic vinegarette. The fried shrimp were very small, the batter was half soggy and the plate had no presentation at all. It was an experience eating here. I'm not sure I would rush to go back considering so many other great places to eat seafood in Portland.
