This is my first time here and I have always heard such amazing things about this place. I was so disappointed. The seafood platter had shrimp on it that were so gross I couldn't eat them. They tasted like canned shrimp. I ordered the chocolate cake and literally couldn't find any cake in it. It was all syrupy fudge and way too sweet. To top it all off...beware of Kim. Kim was our waitress. Kim does not smile, tell you the specials, go out of her way for ANYTHING and likes to Huff and puff. I know this sounds like I am a customer that is high maintenance, but I only asked for more water. I know how hard waitresses work and try to always give the benefit of the doubt, but she was just plain rude!

Have not been here in years. I was really looking for some fresh Maine seafood. I ordered the seafood platter the clams were gritty and the shrimp were the mini ones from a can that had a musky taste to them. Our waitress Kim frowned the entire time. You could hardly hear her speaking. She did not offer any of the specials. The bill was extremely high for the quality of the food and services not sure if I will return.

Fantastic food and service. My wife and I started with the fried calamari, which was delicious. She had the clam chowder and I the lobster stew. Both were great but the lobster stew was out of this world. Then she had the twin lobster and I the Frutti di Mare. Both were a culinary experience. I recommend it to anyone. Service was magnificent and we even got to meet the owner. Next time in Portland we are going back for more.

Decent tourist trap. Expensive, solid food. Go to J's next door or fore street. Duck fat for breakfast.

The food is of good quality, if a little expensive. The atmosphere is perfect if you are looking for a Portland, Maine experience. The history of the restaurant and the associated businesses is an inspirational tale of a man, Tony DiMillo, who took a big risk on a run-down area and helped turn Portland's waterfront into a vibrant community.
