I assumed that this is a tourist trap and not worth visiting. After all, we patronized a neighboring restaurant for decades and love it, so why change? Then we spent a day with local relatives who raved about some of DiMillo's dishes. I realized I made a mistake and we headed there for a birthday lunch celebration.Waiting: We arrived after the normal lunch time and were told there was a 45 minute wait. We saw other groups who seemed to be waiting, too, but we agreed and gave them our mobile number.Surprise: after about 20 minutes the text message arrived and we were seated on an upper deck with covered but otherwise open air dining. Wow, there was a wide panoramic view of the neighboring marina and harbor.I had incredible bacon wrapped scallops (a hearty appetizer) and so-so clam chowder. My partner had a gluten free salad with grilled chicken. The salad was amazing. While we waited there was a large basket of fresh bread and a generous serving of whipped butter (not gluten free, of course). We had to catch a ferry so our adventure ended prematurely before desert. Still, we loved the view, the friendly wait staff, and the few dishes we tried. We strongly recommend you try DiMillo's but be forewarned, it's not inexpensive.

This business should be ashamed of them shelves for charging $55.00 for a baked stuff lobster that had no filling in it but bread crumbs. I will never consider returning to this establishment what do ever and never recommend it either.

The food and atmosphere at DiMillo's was outstanding! I highly recommend dinner here if you are in Portland Maine. The lobster Mac and cheese was huge and filled with large lobster chunks. All the food was delicious! The staff was great!

A Portland institution, DiMillo's floating restaurant is a great spot to enjoy delicious seafood, friendly service and a spectacular waterfront view. It's a must for first-time visitors to the city, even if the experience feels a bit like a ride at Disney World. On a recent visit, we killed off our short 30-minute wait for an waterside table with drinks at the bar, which boasts an impressive menu of cocktails, wines and local craft beers, and welcomes kids along with their parents. After settling into a table on on the outdoor deck, we enjoyed delicious plates of fried calamari, crab cakes and DeMillo's sinfully rich Lobster Mac & Cheese. My wife also ordered a Bacon-wrapped Filet Mignon, which decent if a bit underdone.I have no doubt there are better seafood restaurants in Portland, but there are none as interesting as DeMillo's. It's worth a visit at least once for the setting alone.

The food was pretty good but it was also really expensive. There was a long wait. Service was good along with the setting of the restaurant
