Expected more. Food was OK, but not excellent. Service wasn't great either. 10 minutes before we even got menus. Food did come quickly after we ordered, after we told the server our schedule.

i'd give them higher marks were it not for the fact that i can't use the bathroom. i use a wheelchair and the "accessible" bathroom was completely useless to me. the single accessible stall was nothing but a regular stall with grab bars. there was no way my wheelchair was going to fit. it makes no difference if the location is good, if the food is good, if the service is good. if there is no bathroom, i have to go somewhere else.

i recommend getting your lobster somewhere else.

I love this place due to the fact that it is a restaurant in a vessel. The inside is very nice and clean. The food is great because all I order is the twin lobsters. One is steamed & the other is baked and stuffed with breading. They taste great to me. Staff members are nice, which is a good thing to know if ya are wondering.

I planned a day in Portland, Maine for my family who were arriving on a cruise ship for the day. They live in VA and I hadn't seen them in 8yrs, so this was a big deal. I made reservations at DiMillo's and, when my family was one day out of Portland they were told that they'd have to go through customs, which would delay them until 11:30a. I called and the staff were happy to change our res to 12N, even on short notice. The restaurant is a short walk down Commercial St from where the cruise ships dock. DiMillo's is on a ship itself! The interior is beautiful with lots of brass and polished wood (very nautical!) Each table has a terrific view of the marina - ocean, sky, and lots of boats (very 'New England' for these Virginia folks). Of course, everyone wanted lobster, and that's what we had - baked stuffed, steamed, and a lobster roll - all delicious! Excellent service, elegant surroundings, delicious food, and reasonable prices ($25 for 1.25# lobster w/1 side) make this the place to go! Everyone agreed it was the perfect choice (which made me very happy, since I did the choosing). We all agree, this should be on every tour of Portland - thanks DiMillo's for making our special day shine!

There was a 45 min wait. The staff were friendly at the reception. The price was far higher than expected. I was hoping for a cheaper lobster seeing as we were at the "home of lobster". In the end we were disappointed. The server did not know how to explain what the items on the menu were our how they were prepared. Our drinks order took close on 20min to be prepared. And then our meal came close on 45min after ordering. We asked that the kids meal comes out as soon as possible, but apparently it takes just as long to fry up side fish and chips as a 1.2lb lobster. As the other reviews say, this is an overpriced tourist trap. I would recommend trying out somewhere else.
