I had a cataract removal surgery, and restoration of the affected eye to the desired vision was significantly longer than normal. I received a perfect explanation that I was in group of approximately 20% of patients whose eyes would not dilate properly with eyedrops, requiring the use of a "ring" to mechanically dilate my eyes for surgery. The required insertion of the mechanical device into my eye during surgery caused above-normal swelling, making recovery a few days longer that normal. However, the easy-to-understand explanation of the cause, along with the excellent follow-up relieved my anxiety and led to the desired vision results.
