It was time for our family to have our annual eye appointments. Can't let those high insurance premiums go to waste!! We decided to try some place new for the kids and brought them here. From the time we called to make the appointments, to the time we checked out after the appointments, we received stellar service. It was a first appointment for my daughter. She was a little nervous, but that went away quickly after dealing with the friendly staff. Dr. Taylor was really thorough and explained everything that was going on. As far as the eyeglass selection goes, it was slightly lacking. Other than that, great service and great doctor.

My eyeballs are toast, and my once terrible vision may be superhuman strength soon enough! PS Long review for the folks who want to get LASIK, are toying with the idea, and want to know what a strong prescription person felt at her free consult. TLDR: Price for custom wavefront lasik here cost $2500 per eyeball + $195 diag exam fee for surgery. Total $5195, but Mann Eye typically has the $1000 off promotion, thus $4195. Tax on any eye insurance you may have for vision correction surgery like my EyeMed insurance (15% on my policy) and total is $3566. This is roughly $1783 per eyeball to never have to worry about glasses or contacts again. I went in last Friday afternoon around 1:45pm for a LASIK consult to see if I first of all qualified for the procedure, and to see the cost that I'd be working with at if I were to get a vision correction procedure done. From parking in their lot, I was confused and walked into the bank below but it's okay, even the bank folks are friendly! (They must have figured my eyesight was terrible, thus giving me better directions to find my way around the building). I got checked in, and let the receptionist know that I was new, filled out some paper work, checked in on Yelp and got a Mann Eye goodie bag, filled with candy, some shades, a notepad, magnets and earphones, whoo! I met up with a lady named Courtney, who is the LASIK consult here at Mann Eye, and from the beginning, she was very friendly and sweet, totally hit it off! She went through several of the machines that would test my prescription of my glasses, asked if I had recently worn contacts as that would change the measurements of my eyeballs, measured the thickness of my cornea as well as took a look at my astigmatism. I've been looking left and right at all the Mann Eye institute Yelp reviews as I've heard friends say "NO, don't go there! They will wreck your eyesight and you need to shell out the money to ensure you get the best doctor! " Now I'll be honest, I used to hear the rave reviews of Mann Eye Institute off of the Bobby Bones show as I drove into work everyday, and yes, marketing enough and listening to them rant enough over perfect vision was enough years later to have myself make my way into the free consult. The eye exam free consult, was the most thorough exam ever! I've never seen so many machines before in my life, and not one of them blew a puff of air into my eyeballs. I dread that machine the most, maybe it's the unknowningness of when the puff of air will hit, but I would never wish it upon my enemies! I notice not that many have too high of a prescription, and if you're considering lasik then you must want to compare numbers. Fine, let's compare answers. I am at -7.25/-7.50 diopter, and -1.72/-2.25 astigmatism, with my cornea thickness being in the 620's+. Now, most of the lovely Yelp reviews raving of their LASIK typically didn't have as crazy of a prescription as I do, and it drove me bonkers to not be able to see others above a -3/-4 diopter getting LASIK. Not Courney, remember her taking me around getting my eyes tested? She confessed she was at a -5.00 approx prescription, and I felt a bit safer seeing that she was understanding of my concerns, of my stronger grade prescription, and seeing that she had her procedure done here, and having her great results. They use the intraLase machine which will cut your eyeball, bladeless (aka with a laser), and then use a Wavefront machine to map your cornea to see the 3D topographical terrain of your eyeball to get the most accurate reading. Cool! I've had folks say that they've had terrible results here though, so I am hesitant, getting myself a few second and third opinions, because halos, starbursts while driving at night is definitely a downer. As with any major surgery/medical opinion, I would highly suggest you get 2-3 other consults, most LASIK eye exams are free, and they are pretty low pressure about wanting to get you to sign something. After the first 3 machines with Courtney, I was handed over to the eye medical assistant who conducted my my typical eye exam, was dilated to check for glaucoma and other eye diseases that may be of discomfort (also to check if I would be able to be corrected to 20/20, which I am if you can read the lines on the eye chart to a certain line), and then saw the Doctor who once reviewing my numbers, determined I would be a successful LASIK candidate. Questions to the doctor were in regards to seeing if I would need PRK which has a higher success rate and less regression for stronger prescription folks but the Doct seemed pretty certain LASIK would be better for me in regards to long term, and healing time. PRK does take weeks to heal, where LASIK takes a day or two at most. The free consult was a very informative visit and I'm glad I went in to check Mann Eye out! Second and third consults will go through, because I'm a person who needs to do her research but all sounds great so far!

Every staff member I encountered during my first visit here was awesome. They were super nice and informative. I felt like I was in good hands the whole time. Bonus, they give a little gift bag when you check-in to Yelp, yah! I plan to make this my primary eye doctor. They did extensive testing, testing I have never had before, and I get exams every year.
