Nice office atmosphere, free beverages while you wait, and a short wait time to see the doctor.

The friendly, knowledgeable staff is amazing. The hospitality and flow of the waiting rooms along with great cookies and coffee make each visit fun. Not to mention I love HGTV to watch!!! I've had two separate surgeries with two different surgeons and it is neat how they communicate with each other and genuinely get along as friends. I'm coming back for a third unrelated surgery this month and look forward to it.

The location of your surgery facility and offices was a problem for me. However, I was more than compensated for that inconvenience when Dr. Mohadjer met me at her office on a Sunday morning to re-stitch an incision that had separated. All of the staff are well trained for customer service. I like the fact that the doctors do one procedure over and over. That's an important factor in choosing a surgeon.

Found everyone at the eye institute to be very helpful and caring, 4 days out from my first eye cataract surgery and already seeing much better thanks to Dr. R Weinstock and his staff.

I was diagnosed with mild cataracts in both eyes several years ago. In July, 2015, when I began seeing multiple images, I decided to have my cataracts removed.First, some research,1) how did the eye work with the eyes I was born with,2) how would the eye work with an IOL - intraocular lens,3) what types of IOLs are available,4) which one would best fit my lifestyle,5) which ophthalmologist should I choose,6) which facility should I choose,7) available educational materials and seminars,8) a video of actual cataract surgeryIn my search, I discovered The Eye Institute Of West Florida which offers monthly seminars which included a live televised 3D video of a cataract surgery performed by Dr. Robert J. Weinstock.During my evaluation for cataract surgery, Dr. Weinstock and I discussed my lifestyle and what my hopes were post-surgery to determine which IOL would provide for me the best outcome. The facility is clean, well equipped with state of the art medical devices, and employs professional, friendly, competent staff. The doctors are highly skilled, accredited, have earned fellowships from prestigious schools, have been awarded patents on surgical techniques, and provide input to manufacturers of medical equipment used for eye surgery. They also give to their profession by teaching others from their vast experience of performing eye surgery. The intention is to give their patients the best outcome humanly possible. All eye surgeries are handled by the Eye Institute. No patient would be referred elsewhere for surgical remodeling of the cornea after cataract surgery, for example. A good question to ask elsewhere.I selected the Bosch & Lomb Crystalens AO for my eyes. The IOL is accommodating meaning that my eye will be able to focus it for far and intermediate distances. Some patients have been able to focus close-up without magnifiers. The Crystalens AO lens is aspherical which has near-zero optical error compared to a spherical lens which is a good thing in low light conditions when the pupils are enlarged. The first surgery was scheduled on February 10, 2016 on my dominant right eye. I arrived and shortly thereafter was prepped for surgery. I was offered a sedative but declined since, as a result of my research, I knew everything that was about to happen (no worries). The openings in the eye were very small which provides for fast healing and lowers the risk for infection. The lens was removed without pain. Once the lens was removed, accurate measurements of the eye could be made without the interference of a clouded lens. The Eye Institute was the only place I found that could do this. With accurate measurements, the correct IOL was selected and then inserted into my eye. The duration of the surgery was 10 to 15 minutes. I was released to go home.It took 48 hours before the diameter of the pupil returned to its normal size. During that time, my vision was blurry and very sensitive to light. At night, I saw fantastic halos around street lights. By the third day, things were returning to normal. On February 17, Dr. Weinstock performed cataract surgery on my left eye. All went well with a similar recovery as the right eye.I found the time between the two surgeries to be quite helpful in realizing how much my vision had deteriorated. The image of the left eye had an orange-brown cast. The image of the right eye was bright and full of color and I saw white as WHITE. Incredible! At the end of the fourth week after the surgery on my right eye, I created an eye chart and taped it to a wall. With both eyes, I could read the 20/20 line. At the fifth week, my vision is better than 20/20. In addition, I am able to read, in good light with little strain, 1/32 inch print at 6 inches. Takes me back 40 years! My cataract surgery is the best decision I have made in a very long time.I highly recommend Dr. Robert J. Weinstock, and The Eye Institute Of West Florida for all of your eye care without reservation.
