I drove one of their long time patients and waited for her today, after she checked in at the front desk, a tech who was walking by showed us where to sit, a few minutes later, one of the receptionists and not a tech came over to dilate my patients eyes. After a 30 minute wait, the Dr. walks over and says he had been looking for her and couldn't find her? He had NO clue why the tech and receptionist had us in the front waiting room, by the front door. As I am waiting, the receptionist says I do not need to wait at the window and to go sit in the other waiting room, closer to the patient. More and more people start to come in and are also getting eye drops by the receptionist as they wait to see their doctor. By this time, the receptionist has me in a corner where they keep the eye drops and gloves, a different receptionist walks over a few minutes later and gives me a hard time for sitting where she needs to be? Because I was a foot away from her eye drops and gloves, the woman who works there wearing black scrubs, but not a doctor or even a tech jumps all over me, she says that I am in a doctors office and in the way as she is trying to administer drops, I say absolutely nothing to her, the last thing I want is drama with this nutcase. Little does she know, I work in Pediatrics and have forgotten more than she knows regarding medicine. Whether she knew that I was just told to sit down there by one of her co-workers minutes prior, I have no clue? I don't mind any employee telling me to get up and move to a different seat, it was the tone that shocked me, and the craziest thing was, I had just been told to sit there! Oh my goodness, many of the receptionists appeared very tired, possibly they are overworked, there was no passion at all for their jobs and quite grouchy. Which is fine to be grouchy, but not at me who is simply waiting for my patient in the seat that I was told to sit in. I will be returning with this patient in 2 weeks and look forward to speaking with the one who jumped all over me shortly. The even more bizarre thing was, after I moved from the seat, right away a man in his 60's walked in and he had a HHA with him, his HHA sat in the exact seat that I had just been told to move from and when the same grouchy receptionist came over, she did not tell him to move and made small talk with him, not one word about being too close to her eye drops and gloves. It's safe to say, ownership needs to step in and observe a bit more. I have been in E.R.'s, NICU's, CVICU's, ICU's, etc., etc. and have never seen unit secretaries, receptionists or anyone for that matter speak or act in such a negative manner. Like I said, it was her tone. Next time here in 2 weeks, we'll see how she acts then.

Dr. Ho is always very kind and professional. She is also very astute. At my last appointment, she recognized a problem in my file generated by the software which had mixed my record with that of another patient, and she corrected it on the spot both for me and the other patient. Rather than making me less confident in the Eye Institute because of the error, her intelligence and calm manner made me feel more confident. She is an excellent doctor by far the best ophthalmologist I have ever seen, and I have even quite few over the span of my life. I recommend her highly.
