I went to the Fort Meyers office for an eye exam and contact lenses fitting. A tech gave me the exam; not a doctor. The prescription was wrong. Went I requested a refund, they would only give half and said that they are not a mom & pop business and the techs perform the initial exam.
In my case the tech was the one who determined the prescription and dilated my eyes.
Beware of this mill.

This is a money mill. 1) I was seeing 1 Dr for dry eyes and another Dr for cataract and lens implement. They were constantly changing my 2nd Dr and I objected. I explained that I wanted one dr who was familiar with ME and I had to space my appts because I couldn't afford to have 2 $50 copays within a couple of weeks. Woman at desk told me to see just "one Dr since they all do the same thing anyway." 2) I signed papers saying they could use their fancy new inject in the eye antibiotic to reduce chance of infection. Surgeries were 1 week apart (do one eye at a time) and I got infection in each eye withing days of surgery. I was extremely careful but got infection anyway. 3) I had 2 appointments where they said I owed co-pay but mgr said that was a mistake and I wasn't to pay it. I kept getting bills and was told to call the billing office who told me to talk to med office. I was refused appointments soI had to pay $100 for visits that were part of my surgery pkg. 3) Having an enhancement to lens implants was guaranteed if I reported the problem before 3 mo. I reported it my next visit. Then told that because I had dry eyes, they coudnt fix it right now. I had dry all my life. They knew this. Why did they do the implants if they knew dry eyes would be a problem? 4) I had afternoon appt and arrived on time. I was in waiting room and seen by techs but not seen by dr until 1 1/2 hrs after my appt. Dr said I was his favorite patient because I was the last patient of the day. He spent less than 5 minutes with me and out the door. Other staff answered my questions while I watched Dr rush out door to parking lot. NEVER NEVER NEVER going back. I still need the eyelid correction they were to do for my peripheral vision and the enhancement I have already paid for but I will NOT go back. BEWARE.

When I first agreed to have the cataracts done for an additional $4000.00 over what my insurance paid, I asked Dr Franz what would happen if I was not happy with the results. He said well fix it. Well I wasnt satisfied and said so right after the procedures. I said after the procedures that and every visit thereafter that I wasnt spending another dime until I was happy and was able to see to my satisfaction. I was never able to see Dr Franz after the the procedures. They kept seeing me and I admit they tried several things. But eventually they wanted a copay for several visits. I again informed them that I wasnt paying. Certainly for $4000.00 I should have been happy. They continued to bill me. I didnt pay. They ended up putting a bad report on my credit report, so here I am putting a bad report on yours. Since then I havent been able to see well. He charged me lots and lots of money and damaged my eyes.DONT GO TO HIM. He has a money making business.

    BEWARE OF THIS TERRIBLE OFFICE!

I needed surgery for a Sebaceous Cyst. It was on the exterior of my lower eye lid. I called to set up an appointment. I was told that I was already on their list of past patients. I was also told that the surgery did NOT require that I needed to have a 2nd driver with me. (So I was told)!

When I arrived (on time), not only did I wait in the office lobby for about a half hour, but I was taken by a fast-talking nurse to a room only to have wait alone. She gave me information which was 100% opposite of what I was told on the phone. She said I DID need a driver when the minor surgery took place. She said that the fact which I was told about the very next day was almost IMPOSSIBLE according to procedure! When I asked why I was given opposite information via my original phone call over a month ago .. she had no answer nor an apology for my trouble and the office mistake.

This nurse had a very pompous attitude, had no "bed side" manner and was surely not happy in her chosen profession. She should have been
suited more to a "collection agent" rather than a nurse.

I then waited over twenty more minutes when all of a sudden, I realized that I had "enough" of this office, its staff and its errors in communication.
This was neither a Department Store nor a Supermarket! Each time one has surgery, it is a possible life-changing situation. I walked down the hall and straight out the door... but as I passed the receptionist, I said, "I will call and let you know what happened"!!

When I got to my phone, I already received a message from the same rude nurse asking why I left. I told her the five or ten reasons, I said I was fed up with that place, but probably because the waiting room was filled with seniors who needed medical assistance, this "meat market" of eye care, as I see it, Dr. Franz simply doesn't care about the negativity his office practices. I HOPE THOSE WHO READ THIS ARTICLE WILL TAKE HEED! UNLESS YOU ARE READY FOR MISTAKES, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO HAVE YOUR EYES CHECKED NOR TENDED TO! BELIEVE ME I AM A VERY EASY-GOING GUY WHO READ THE WRONG REVIEWS ABOUT THIS TERRIBLE MEDICAL OFFICE!!!
