Not at all happy with this practice today. I wear scleral lenses from failed RK, ALK and LASIK surgery on my eyes done elsewhere over a decade ago. I now have fluctuating astigmatism and can't wear glasses as my vision changes constantly. I live in Ft Myers and drove to the Naples office where I was to be seen for exam and adjustment to my fit and prescription if necessary.

The appointment was made by the Ft Myers office. When I arrived today at the Naples office, I was told my insurance wouldn't cover until May. OK, I didn't know that. At the time my appointment was made, I was given the date, time and location. Nothing was mentioned about fees I would need to pay before being seen. The two young women at the front desk were very nice and explained everything to me. Then I was told that only one doctor in their practice accepted my insurance (and it was not the doctor I was seeing). I could be seen but would have to pay $500 for the visit and the cost of the lenses would be $500 each. Needless to say, I cancelled the appointment and was not happy at all that my day off was a total waste of time. When I was fitted two years ago on a little island in the Caribbean, I paid two $20 co-pays for exam, fitting and lenses. There is no reason for eye care in the US to be painfully expensive even with insurance.

I have been banned from Dr. Jonathan Frantzs practice due to an error they made 10/2017 in providing a new prescription for me. I insisted that Dr. Frantz pay the fee demanded for the remaking done by a third-party. I attempted to use the Frantz in-house optical department but they could not access the specific frame that I wanted. They also said they would not accept any responsibility if that frame broke in their attempt to fill the prescription which caused me to use the third party.

I scheduled an elective lens replacement with this office, and carefully obtained cost estimates. As the billing rolled in afterwards, it became apparent that the end cost to me is approximately $2500 per eye higher than what this office provided me in terms of quotes. Aside from the fact that I feel completely mislead here and that this dollar amount would have been a decision-changing consideration for me, I cannot believe that this office has not encountered this before and done a better job

Stay away if you value your eyes and your finances. This is a trap for seniors, trying to take their money, prolonging their care as far as they can and then kicking them out as they please.

Horrible place!

My 85 year old wife has had a cornea transplant that had to be done a total of 4 times as they did not do what they said they would on the first one. She has had Cataract surgery and been treated there for Glaucoma. After years of treatment she got a registered letter saying that we were not welcome in their office any more. They also sent me the same registered letter and I was not even a patient there. They gave us no explanation just told us never to set foot in their office. How tacky is that?
