Patients are not first at this practice, despite their commercials and billboards. It seems they lost sight of what IS important. I recently had cataract and glaucoma surgery in each eye, one week apart. But even before that, I would have to block an entire afternoon to get through an appointment. Each step is painfully long and the wait between each step can feel like forever, depending on how many doctors they have on staff that day. During the many appointments for my surgeries, I was there too often and too long. At one point, in getting my three eye drop prescriptions, I was asked if $300 was too much to spend on one set. I said yes. I was offered a coupon which took the amount down to $70. Still too much i was asked? Finally I was offered the $3 generic choice. Another example, but not close to all, of why to avoid Frantz eye care, is when I went for my second pre op visit, my surgeon looked at my chart and asked if I was really diabetic. Apparently he did not know that for the surgery in my first eye. Find a practice where patients actually do come first.

Seven 1-star reviews on the BBB website. I wish I had checked there first. I came in to get a second opinion for a small growth on my eye lid and they took a bunch of photos and then told me that I might have cancer and that they would need to biopsy it. All I wanted was for them to remove the growth (which was later diagnosed by another doctor as a simple ward and removed in 5 min.). I declined any treatment at that point and was charged $93.54 on way out. I thought that was pretty hefty as a 20% co-payment, but was so exhausted at this point, that I just wanted to leave.6 weeks later (and weekly phone calls to get clarification on my billing) I get an EOB from my insurance telling me that they charged me $75 for the photos and $218 for the office visit. The $75 is not covered at all and will not come out of my deductible.I called the billing office and told them that I should have been notified at the time of "service" that the photos would not be covered and their response was that all BCBS plans are different. I'm not sure what that has to do with them not warning me that this would not be covered but they would not relent. This happened in the Ft. Myers but I would not trust any of their locations. They are clearly focused on milking their patients out of money much more than providing proper health care. Stay away!

I wanted a lower lid lift to get rid of the bags under my eyes. They told me it was easy and many people go back to work the next day. In retrospect, the aftercare paperwork they gave me is one that applies to the far more common upper lid surgery which is very different from what I had. I have friends who have had that. The day after the surgery, I could only open my eyes a tiny bit and had to tilt my head back to see. My eyes drooped way down at the corners and looked horrifying. I called the office. The woman who called me back insisted that the corners of my eyes were only sewn shut on the inside, not the outer lids and told me the shape of my eyes would get BETTER WITH TIME! I cried for a week until my appointment to remove the stitches, whereupon it turned out that my eyes WERE stitched together on the outside, something they never told me before the surgery. When I complained that they hadn't told me that before, I was told, "Well, you were told the doctor would take a pinch, " like I know that that means they will sew my eyes shut! My eyesight was very blurry for at least a week, not the 2 days in the paperwork and I had to be driven to the appointment because I could only see a little with my head back. No way anyone with this procedure could return to work the next day as I was told! They generically tell you there could be complications as with any surgery. But, they never mentioned any specifics like the hard bump I still have popping out under my right eye which they now tell me can last a year! When I told the nurse I was upset about not being told things that terrified me and then being given false information, she told me she didn't like my attitude. I complained to another doctor about the entire experience and was told a manager would call me. Never happened. I emailed the office on several occasions at the address they gave me. Never got a response.
