My mother Lorene went to The Eye Institute of West Florida for a routine cataract surgery, which they said she was a good candidate for and she became legally blind after the surgery. Her cornea detached, and she had lots of issues that they did surgeries on to try and fix. She spent the following years trying to deal with being legally blind, she was unable to drive or live a fulfilling life. She had many falls because of it, which caused a broken arm, also ribs and a nose. She died January 30th, 2022, I truly feel if she had been able to see properly, she would not be dead at the age of 61. Her doctors were Dr. Desai and Dr. Kirsch. I understand she may have just had bad luck, but they really ruined her life, and have had no repercussions except this one bad review, and probably the many more I plan on leaving on any site that will take it. I've never left a bad review before, but they've earned it.

Good until they can no longer help, or solve your problem. So, you look for treatment elsewhere where you are offered alternative solutions, and if the Eye Institute finds out, they literally send you a letter telling you to stay away, and refuse you further assistance. A typical CYA letter carefully drafted by an Attorney. So much for the Hippocratic Oath!

I saw Winston Cope, MD and I liked him tremendously because he was thorough and took the time to explain the hows and whys of the advice he gave me. In no way did he make me feel rushed. I have a medical background and my husband was a pathologist so I appreciate dedicated medical professionals. On the contrary, I was tremendously disappointed with the office policy of asking me if I was vaccinated. When I asked the receptionist why she was asking me that, she had nothing pertinent to offer but did add it would not affect whether they would see me or not. I consider it offensive and intrusive to ask patients of their vaccination status and would not recommend the office based on that policy.

I would rate 0 if I can. Dont even come to this place for treatment because youre better off with better doctors. I had the worst experience at this clinic! I had an eye abrasion that needed medicine and since my eye specialist was closed and wont be open till the next monday I decided its better to see another eye specialist instead of urgent care big mistake! They just confirmed that I was right about my eye abrasion but didn't want to prescribe any medicine or help me because she cant see me the following days for checkup. She wanted me to go to an emergency room but i refused bcoz of covid and thats the last place i wanted to visit. Instead I went to an urgent care afterwards and was thankfully treated immediately. They even find the 1st doctors excuse to be absurd .Also told my eye doctor abt the experience and she cant believe I was turned down for a simple treatment.Update: They responded and said their specialist was not there on the day I came but i explained on the call why i will come. If they knew they cant help me then why waste my time to go there just to ask me to see another doctor. Also, they had the audacity to charge me!!! They billed my insurance. This is an obvious abuse and malpractice! So they will just ask a patient knowing they cant help her and still charge????!!!
