I have had several issues with the Eye Institute that I have resolved outside of the Eye Institute but the most worrisome is the Intense Pulse Light (IPL) therapy for dry eye. I paid $395 for 5 sessions with no real improvement only to discover that the IPL treatment actually EXACERBATES dry eye and that the heat and pressure from this treatment fibrosis and atrophies the Meibomian glands and acinar cells. I know this because I have read the published research by Dr Steven Maskin Ophthalmologist in South Tampa who has and does present at Ophthalmic Medical conferences so his data is readily available to all Ophthalmologists. Please, NO ONE should do the IPL and compromise the health of their eyes....It is disingenuous that the EYE Institute continues to promote a "cash" procedure that actually can harm the very ducts one needs to heal dry eye. I have completed 33% of healthy treatments and am 50% improved with Dr Maskins treatment plan.

I have never heard of a Dr. of any type that could mess up a person's life oike Dr. R Weinstock. He sure messed up my eyes when he did cataract surgery which was not needed.. He said this would not have happened if I would have bought the deluxe package! I now have talked to many whose sight has been hurt by this guy.

My PCP recommended Dr. Martino so I made an appointment with her at Brandon Eye Associates. As requested I completed the online pre-appointment questionnaire only to find out that they don't actually use that information from the web. They want you print it and bring it with you. So I completed the paperwork at the office. Although I arrived forty minutes early I was nearly an hour late for my appointment and I had to leave without seeing the doctor. This is just inexcusable from a specialist.

Run down office, filled with people waiting. Waited over an hour and then cancelled and left. I'll find a doctor that has some respect for my time. Also, filled out all the pre-appointment paperwork online. The desk staff asked me if I printed it out and brought it with me because, apparently, I was supposed to do that. The site never said that and really? Why bother doing it online only to print it out and bring it along? Terrible office. Avoid this doctor.

I originally made my initial appointment in the St Petersburg office for Dr. Sacksteder for Monday 4/17/2017. Went to the St Pete office and was told by him he couldn't help because I had Keratocunus. I advised him I told them when I made the appointment. I had even added that to the initial patient paperwork. He said he couldn't treat me but Dr Smith in the Largo office could. I was immediately ushered to the front desk and an appointment in Largo for Dr Smith was made for Friday 4/21/2017 at 2pm.[Please note that Largo is about 40 minutes drive]On 4/21/2017 I arrived at the Largo office at 150pm and there was obviously some confusion with my appointment. After approx 10 minutes I was told that someone had mistakenly cancelled my appointment but i could see the Dr. next Friday 4/28/17( you have to be F'en kidding me !!!!) I declined and left.To sum it up I took time off work 2 days and drove approx 1hr 30 mins for absolutely nothing. What a F'en waste of time!!!!!I would suggest that no one use this bunch of incompetents and seek your eyecare elsewhere. For they are very good at taking the appointment, but not very good at keeping it.Go somewhere else!
