I love the novelty of dining outside, and dining on the water elevates that! I always visit when I'm in Portland. I am looking forward to another visit soon. I almost always order mussels & they never disappoint. The wait can be long, you may want to make a reservation. I have never waited longer than 30 minutes, and to me it is worth it! Portland is a lovely city, and I can't wait to be back.

I came here for late lunch while my Adventure of the Seas cruise ship was in port here Sept 25th, 2019. I ordered a bowl of lobster stew, cos so many reviews said how good the stew was, plentiful with lobster meat. But when my bowl came, it only had overcooked and chewy tough lobster CLAWs only. I asked my server if oingy boingy claws was the only meat they put in the stew, or does it include other lobster meat, like tail and body. See photo below of claw meat only (I had already eaten a few pieces when I took the photo).

She said it was supposed to contain other parts of the lobster besides the claw meat (small claws, mind you, about the size of a woman's thumb, to first joint).

Claw meat has the fingers that are not the same consistency as real lobster meat, and I do not like the finger meat (reminds me of Silly Putty's consistency, you know what I mean).

I felt I did not want to pay $19 for oingy boingy tough and chewy claw meat, which she acknowledged that claw meat can be like that (I don't know if she was sincerely stating that, or acknowledging "customer is always right", even if they are wrong). She asked if I wanted it sent back or take it off my bill. I said I wanted to send it back for replacement, cos I was hungry and still needed to eat, and I came here to eat lobster stew.

When she brought it back, there was substantially MORE lobster meat in it that was not claw, and the cook left the claw meat that was already there before, in the bowl. So see photo below, it looks like a LOT of Lobster! Read my captions for the photos.

The broth was made much better to my tastes by adding plenty of salt. One thing I didn't like was the bread was served with margarine, not butter. At least, sure tasted and smelled like margarine, to meeeee!

Due to server and cook making my lobster stew a good and meaty experience, I am giving them 4 stars. I told her to make sure she thanked the cook for me.

Now I obsessing for another bowl of oyster stew.
