This place certainly is quite classy. The restaurant is located on the waterside, the decor is top notch and the waiters were very eloquent. We arrived around dinner time and we had to wait an hour just to get a table (which was to be expected since this place is located in the city and likely to draw plenty of tourists). Waiting wasn't so bad as there were benches for you to enjoy the exterior views which were aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and there are some nice photo-op areas if you're feeling up to it xD. I have no complaints over the food as I felt satisfied. I ordered the lobster (comes with a side of your choice) and it took them around 30 minutes to prepare it. They give you a nice disposable bib to keep your clothes clean and a sanitized napkin if you want to clean your hands. This was the first time i have actually eaten a whole lobster so trying to crack open the shell and digging out the meat was a struggle to say the least. However, once I did get to the prize (the meat) it gave me even more satisfaction eating it because I had to work for it xD. The place also has a private parking lot (a maximum of 3 hours) available to customers so you won't need to try and look for parking elsewhere.

Great view from the restaurant, their seafood menu is pretty big, couldn't decide for a long time, waitress helped out and I got most popular dish. Shrimps as appetizer, my girlfriend wasn't impressed but I liked it. Service is a bit slow, overall good experience

Extremely pleasant, unrushed dining on the outdoor deck upstairs on this permanently docked, refurbished ferry boat. The beers and coffee were delectible, the fried calamari and boston salad tasty starters. I had deshelled lobster and baked potato, Son seafood alfredo and Hubby an assorted seafood plate, all basic but pristinely prepared and presented. Key lime pie with chocolate cookie crust was decent, the wild blueberry cobbler disapointing. The home made vanilla bean ice cream though, rocked. The temperature on the potted flower-tree strewn deck was perfect, with an entertaining view of docked boats being enjoyed by their owners. Kassandra gave excellent service. A Portland treat not to be missed.

For our first time in Portland we were looking for a place to have fresh whole lobster. DiMillo's popped up again and again among online recommendations, but when we asked around town people said it was a a tourist trap and somewhat overrated. We decided to give it a shot anyway. When we first got there we asked to be seated outside because it was a pretty nice day. We quickly changed our minds. The deck was noisy and felt very cheap with plastic chairs and patio tables. We moved inside next to the window where the tables and chairs were solid and comfortable and the atmosphere was much better. It's fun to be in a restaurant on the water, but DiMillo's is surrounded by large docked boats and condos, which kind of defeats the purpose. Without a nice view, eating at a floating restaurant becomes a simple novelty. With that said, the dining room was very comfortable, quiet, and relaxing. Our waiter was probably the best waiter I've had at a restaurant anywhere in a very long time. He was very attentive, friendly, down-to-earth, and incredibly informative. It was obvious he knew the menu very well and had great suggestions. We ordered several different things and they all came out at a well-established and reasonable pace. The food was all very good with generous portion sizes. The bacon wrapped scallops were so good it made me angry. I've made them a few times myself and it's hard to get the outside nice and crispy without overcooking the scallops, but the one's at DiMillo's were absolutely perfect. The steamed Maine clams were also good and the portion was more than enough for two people. By the time our lobsters came we were already feeling a bit full. The lobster was good. I had never had a whole steamed lobster before, and it was quite the experience, however, I think I learned I'd rather leave the dirty work to the chef. I had been eyeing the lobster mac and cheese, and in the end, I wish I had gone for that instead.I struggled with giving DiMillo's 4 stars instead of 5 because for what it is, I think it should get 5 stars. It's a great place for families or tourist groups to sit down and have a large semi-fancy meal, splitting a few different things among four or more people, and coming away with a relatively reasonable bill. However, personally, I tend to like places that offer smaller portions allowing you to have several different dishes without blowing your belly or your wallet. I would have liked to see the scallops and clams portions cut in half and it would be nice if you could get just a steamed lobster tail instead of the whole lobster. They have a lobster tail on the menu, but it's deep fried and actually costs $2 more than the whole steamed lobster.
