Touristy and not cheap, but worth the trip. Had an excellent risotto with shrimp and asparagus on special and my husband had the Pecan crusted Haddock, both were delicious. We loved the bartender super friendly and thought the service was good. They are busy so you might need to wait a little for your food. Views are nice. And the main dining room I am heard is nice. We walked in without a resos and had to wait 20 min so we opted for the lounge which was worth it.

We ended up here completely by accident and it turned out to be GREAT! We had the lobster stew and mussels for an appetizer both of which were excellent. The mussels ranked right up there with the best I ever had in Belgium. For a main course I had the Lobster Mac & Cheese, which was the best I've ever had. They make theirs with mascarpone cheese which was unexpected and added more of a creamy flavor rather than cheesy. I was hesitant to even order this since everyone seems to make Lobster Mac & Cheese now but DiMillo's does it right.

This was a pretty big place but it was still run like the family business it started as. We were there over President's Day Weekend and apparently due to the nice weather it turned into a busy weekend that most of Portland was expecting. I though the service at DiMillo's was great but the owner even came over to apologize for the kitchen being a little slow that night due to the heavier than expected crowd. As someone who has worked in restaurants in the past it was refreshing to see an owner helping out by busing tables when it was busy.

We stopped at this place because it was not only close to the water but on the water. We had had a late breakfast so we did not stop in for lunch until later afternoon. The atmosphere was traditional, meaning what you would expect for a floating-restaurant-vessel, and the blue hairs were abound (but this was only because of the time of day I am guessing...the fun part was being the youngsters in the crowd!).

I ordered a cold draft beer and my wife had a hot tea (it was about 22F that day so we each warmed up the way we like warm up). We had a calamari and potato cakes for appetizers which were really good. My wife had a cup of chowder (which I thought was too thick but she liked it), a salad, and shrimp for her entree. I had bay scallops which were broiled to perfection and fresh green beans. The scallops were excellent but the green beans were just okay at best (no body makes green beans like my wife so I am spoiled).

We both recommend this place. The 'on the water' view was great and the place has character (linen table settings and dark woods). You will find the food tasty and plenty of nice beers to choose from. And the service is great even though they know you are a tourist.

Great first time Maine experience for the whole family! Service was excellent (Jason). Eat here if you can. We had a sampling of the main entrees. Everything was awesome. Lobster, fried clams, scallops, etc.

A very nice place to go to catch the charm of the great Northeast...and the Maine lobster! We had a group of six from the Midwest. We stop here every year and have never been disappointed. The main appeal is the lobster special. It is two whole Maine lobsters with potato and bread. The staff is very helpful with customers who are unfamilar with cleaning a lobster for eating. All lobster was delicious - we enjoyed it so! The local beers also had high votes! We will return again next year!
