I had a very mixed experience with my appointment. It didnt start well: When making the appointment I had to fill or extensive information sheets with my insurance information, copies of my insurance card, medical background, etc. when I checked in I simply filled out these forms again in person. Why have us fill them out online if we just have to do it again? Then, I waited for my appointment. Twenty-five minutes after my appointment time, I started to feel frustrated. Helpfully, there was a little sign posted stating Your time is important to us. Please let us know if you have been waiting more than 20 minutes. So, I walked up to the counter and let her know that Hey, its been about 25 minutes since my appointment time. She didnt apologize or use any kind of nonverbal signals to indicate care. She told me she would check on it and after shuffling through some papers said they will be right with you. Its almost like it was a canned response, and contained exactly no helpful information nor any apology. I waited exactly 44 minutes for my appointment. When the tech finally called my name, he asked me how I was doing so I said frankly, Im ok but Ive been waiting 44 minutes, which was frustrating. He said, and I quote, youre lucky, its usually around an hour and a half. We had some banter around that being much too long and perhaps scheduling should look into it, etc.The tech himself was friendly and professional and the eye exam went very well. I felt he was careful to get the measurements correctly.Once finished, I was led to another room and had to wait a length of time to see the doctor. Altogether I waited upwards of an hour+ to get an optometry exam, which I feel is excessive. The doctor herself was nice, and I would see her again.Overall, I think this practice has lovely techs and providers, and they seem competent. However, there appear to be some systemic/organizational issues.

I would give 5 stars for Dr Chin & her staff who has really helped improve my dry eyes.

However, i give 1 star for my botox experience. It sounded like a good deal at $150 per area. a week after my first treatment i realized there were areas that were not correct (crooked eyes & big frown lines) and called immediately to be touched up/fixed. I went to the clinic on 3 different occasions to have botox fixed but every time they didn't have the supplies. So not only did i lose all that work time/$ traveling back & forth to false appointments, i had to be seen for 5 weeks with crazy eyebrows & frown.
Today they finally gave me my touch up to fix the original treatment & i was charged @$160--- they charged me for their initial mistake-- how is that ethical??. And i still dont know if the touch-ups worked (too early to tell).

I'll continue to see dr chin for dry eyes, but
Lesson learned-- let dermatologists do cosmetic procedures as they take care of u if mistake/touchups are needed (& they have consistent supplies)

Don't let them bully you into getting unnecessary machine scans if you don't want to get your eyes dialated. Worked once but never again...shouldn't even pressure you.
They have equipment but it is a little off. My left eye got better ontheir machine but it was too good to be true. Bad prescription for my contacts and glasses. Be weary and careful because they charge more for benefits options on glasses. I was quoted for $400 on options and took my same prescription and options over to Visionworks and paid $75.

FYI Original Doctor is no longer there, newer staff. Definitely not the same place it used to be. Staff was very inefficient and I was forced to wait over 45 minutes. Did a very poor job of assisting me find class that fit my facial structure. I'd give them 1 star rating but one of the staff members actually cared enough to try and assist me. I'm going to take my business elsewhere.

I have been been going to Mann Eye for many years in Houston and for the last two years in Austin. My experience was always very good in Houston with great care and well managed staff. The opposite has been true in Austin with waiting times for routine exams of 2 hours and more. The time for a recent appointment with Dr. Barker for an annual eye exam was 2 1/2 hours. Even though my appointment was with Dr. Barker he never came in, instead I was finally seen by an OD...rather than the opthalmologist/MD that I made the appointment to see.
