I was referred to Dr. Linda Pope in the Mann Eye Institute for a cyst removal and I couldn't be happier with the her, the staff, the procedure and the results. What an AMAZING group of people. I cannot say enough good things about them. The process was affordable, quick and the staff was always in constant communicatioin with me. Also, once the surgery was done, I got an open line of communication with my doctor in case I needed anything. I cannot recommend them enough!!! If you need treatment for your eyes, this is the place to go and the people you want to take care of you!!! Trust me!!!

This is a long post but hopefully will help someone considering cataract surgery. I had mono-vision Lasik performed at Mann Eye 10 years ago and it was a fantastic experience and a totally pain free procedure. In the last couple of years my vision began to deteriorate and had to wear cheaters so I went back to Mann Eye last month hoping to get a tune up to my Lasik (which I had done around year 5 post op as well) but learned I had cataracts at the young age of 55 :( Apparently this is getting more common for younger people even in their 40's. I was hesitant to get the cataract surgery as it's considerably more invasive than Lasik and I wasn't really looking forward to getting a hole poked in my eye. I finally made the decision to go for it after a particularly scary drive to the airport in Houston where I had missed my turn and couldn't read any of the street signs. Dr. Mike Mann performed the procedure 2 days ago and I have to say it was just as pain free as Lasik. Dr. Mann personally called me the night before surgery to make sure everything was okay, which is pretty rare these days. I received a Valium pre-op which did nothing to calm my nerves but I wasn't going to back out now. The procedure is done in two steps. First I was walked into the laser room and similar to Lasik was put under a laser and watched a red and green light show (my eyes get numbing drops multiple times throughout the procedure so I never felt anything). This step took about 10 minutes per eye and breaks the natural lens up and makes it easier to remove in the next step. Everything appeared kind of hazy at this point but I still had vision which was a concern of mine since I had both eyes done at once. Next I was led into the surgical suite and prepped for the removal of the natural lens and the insertion of the new lens. This was new territory for me so I was fairly nervous. A couple of very surprising things happened here. Dr. Mann led his surgical team in a prayer over me before starting the surgery. I'm not a super religious person but I'll take whatever advantage I can when someone's about to cut into me. Then before he started the actual procedure, a nurse sat next to me and took my hand and let me know that it was her job to hold my hand through the procedure. It may sound kind of odd but that actually provided more calming than the Valium. This procedure took about 15 minutes per eye. Then they taped clear shields to my eyes and gave me a pair of the huge dark sunglasses and took me to post op where Dr. Mann came in and took a picture with my son and I.We stayed in post-op for about 10 minutes before going home. This was a fantastic experience and I can't say enough good things about Dr. Mann and his team. This is my second day post-op and I wrote this without my glasses :)

This was my first time to see Dr. Chin. She was wonderful and very thoughtful and informative. I am having laser surgery to help relieve the pressure in my eye--narrow canal glaucoma. She explained the treatment in detail and answered all of my questions. I am definitely going back to see her for my next checkup.

My family's always loved Dr. Brunson at Mann Eye and I recently had a visit to the Main Street office. I was very impressed by the cleanliness and sanitization procedures they are taking during Covid. Place cards are given to mark the chair used, then the staff would come and clean that chair before anyone else could sit down. The staff were seen washing hands often, masks were worn and distance kept unless necessary. They're definitely doing there part to keep people safe.
