I finally came of age to get LASIK and I feel like I got the best doctor to do it for me. At first I was confused because I didn't know some were afraid to do it or spend the money. Listen, this is one of the best things you will ever buy in your life. If you qualify your life will never be the same. When I travel, no contacts or big solution cases in my bag. I can open my eyes after a nap on a plane. You can go to bed and wake up and not have to put anything in your eyes. Your eyes will never be itchy anymore in this dry Cali weather. No more glasses. Recovery only took about a day. Good follow up from Pablo and Jelena. Jelena is #1 she was an optomologist that did what Dr Ellis does, in Lithuania, but her license doesn't carry over to America. So make sure she tests your eyes because you are pretty much getting a Dr Ellis even at the intro level. Get lasik.

This is a review solely on my consultation, I did not have the Lasik Eye Surgery performed.

I went to the office in El Cerrito and wanted a consultation to see if I'm eligible for the procedure. I had multiple eye exam performed, none of which were explained to me and I was only told at the end that I would be eligible. At no point do you meet with a doctor.

I was then told to speak with James. James did not introduce himself so I had no idea who he was, I then asked and he got aggressive and said he's the patient counselor... whatever that means. He is basically a sales man and pressures you to hurry and make an appointment and put a hefty deposit down. I wanted the procedure so I put my deposit down to reserve my appointment which is done in San Jose by the way. He was not a pleasant person to work with. I asked if I wanted to cancel my appointment if I would get a full refund of my deposit and he assured me I'd get the deposit right away if I decide to cancel.

Within 2 hours of me leaving the office, I decided to cancel my appointment because I felt rushed and had a bad feeling about it. I called back James and he said he'd refund me right away. TWO WEEKS go by and I still am NOT refunded. I call back James and he said he would put in another request and that he would call me two days later.

James never called. I called him back, he tells me he did request it and then HUNG UP ON ME. It's definitely frustrating when you do not get a refund of $500 and it's even more annoying when the sales man hangs up on you! I think overall this was such a terrible experience and if you can, just go somewhere else that is organized and professional.

I went there today 1/10/18 with my father. First of all there wasn't any Dr. Ellis there. Ive been told that he is only working on Fridays and only for surgeries. Another doctor did the exam. They took $250 from my father because of his age and the lady doctor repeated multiple times that he is going to get a complete eye exam and i am getting only lazier evaluation exam. During my exam I noticed that they didn't know how the tools work and their excuse was that their technician is not there, and i wonder why they make appointments if they knew the tech is not gonna be there and if their doctor can not work with tools without the help of tech? Then I learned that they knew from the beginning that my father wont be qualified for lazer because of his age and I wonder why they didn't say anything, Did they want the $250? so cheap people. Then the doctor told me that she is going to write me a prescription but she forgot to do that. She also told me that she can not give me the report but she will write me the diagnoses of my eye, but she didn't do that either. And the exam of my father suppose to be much much longer than mine based on their own words but she spend only one third of the time that she spend on me, and my father get the minimum exam while he paid $250. In general the clinic was very unorganized, very untrue about their service, and very unpleasant. i do not recommend it to anyone.

Please do not have your Lasik eye surgery with this surgeon. My father had surgery with this doctor with terrible results in 2010. And yes, why do you see all 5 star reviews? Because this wonderful man pays to have reviews filtered- it is super common among doctors to do this.
Let me share with you the results my father has had. He was initially hesitant to have Lasik performed on both eyes simultaneously, because he was concerned about possible repercussions in case things didn't go as expected. Well, things clearly did not go as desired.
He turned out with one eye nearsighted and the other eye farsighted. You read that right, both eyes turned out different. He needed to have surgery TWICE to get the issue resolved. Not great. Unless you want to be out of work for two years while you try to read from one eye, don't get your surgery done here.
