11:00 appointment, showed up 10 minutes prior, still waiting in lobby 40 minutes later. Seems like they overbook on purpose to try and 'catch' as many potential customers as possible which speaks volumes in my book. Nice enough people working there, but business practice is suspect, and we're talking about my eyes here. No thank you.

I don't like giving reviews, but this needed to be done. Went to the Walnut Creek location for my first ever lasik consultation. They required me to put down a 10%+ deposit down. Luckily it was refundable. I went to different consultations, quickly realized Ellis Eye gave me the absolute highest price. I called to ask for a refund, seemed like they wanted me to do the procedure with them so they provided me with a cheaper number that was 1,400 cheaper.. The next following days I called back and asked for my deposit refund. The doctor said ok we'll give you the refund but you could hear it in her tone she was not happy about it. As two weeks passed by, I still have not received any receipt or notification about my refund. I called Ellis Eye, they transferred me to the doctor Christina Kerr, I was definitely playing phone tag which was annoying. Finally, got the chance to speak with her and she said she would transfer me to accounting? They never picked up and answered. She stated they would contact me by end of day.. three days went by no contact. I called back Monday she didn't call me back after I called her 3 times. I called Ellis Eye medical center, and there was a very nice lady that helped me with the refund within minutes.. I apologize on not remembering her name but she was amazing. Definitely would give 1 star but the nice lady deserved better. Finally got my refund 3 weeks after.. why on earth does it take phone tag and 3 weeks for a damn refund.. horrible service

Affordable offer but skeptical and questionable staff! I used to go here in 2014. This place is like walking into a scam call center in Canada with hot heads. Wouldn't be surprised how many times they have had lawsuits against them. Do you notice how the owner argues back to the customers in a rehearsed and painfully uptight script, disgusting. Surgery 8 years again was like the worse nightmare because the badly trained misguided staff didn't do their job correctly and dose me with the pain meds and did not even bother to wait for pain meds to take effect and was lucky to even get out. They didn't even offer the option and nitrogen oxide. No apologies and experienced laughable treatment during Post lasik appointments that didn't take my concerns seriously. These people are in the wrong country to be doing this. And this is not a troll that used different accounts Will! We hardworking citizens outside of the Bay Area know who you people are.

Was there for an hour 15 minutes before I was seen by the doctor. Receptionist was a b*tch. Everyone else was nice though. I had another appt. and asked the receptionist how much longer and she told me the Dr. was late that's why I waited so long and when I was seen by the Dr. she apologized for the wait and said her assistant was 2 hours late lol somebody was lying.

Tl;dr -- during an evaluation, the optometrist on duty falsely disqualified me for LASIK/PRK due to a condition I did not have, possibly because he did not want me as a patient. I got LASIK elsewhere a few weeks later. Don't go cheap for poorer service and sloppy medical conclusions.<br><br>I'll preface that I was not in a great mood that day (hence why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1), it was difficult to find parking in Union Square and I was running late and needed to get to a meeting after. I got annoyed (I should have been nicer) when the receptionist stopped answering my questions (e.g., do I have to write my employer name on this form?). I knew something was wrong when the receptionist walked into the optometrist's room and closed the door. A few minutes later, the optometrist brought me in and did a few cursory checks, put eye drops in my eye, and almost immediately diagnosed me with dry eye (first I heard of this, he didn't give me an actual dry eye test) and that I wasn't qualifed for LASIK or PRK. When I asked for more information, he told me the "outcome would not be good" for me and that my options were limited. Since dry eye is a symptom of other potential health issues, I was concerned about my general health after the evaluation, but I also felt he was trying to push me out without being evidence based. Thankfully, I trusted my gut and got a second opinion. Turns out, I had excellent eye health (no dry eye at all) and was a candidate for LASIK and PRK according to one of the highest regarded (and conservative) opthalmologists in the Bay Area. I got LASIK a few weeks later from that same opthalmologist. So far, I am happy with the results!<br><br>My guess is that Ellis doesn't want to meet the needs of an admittedly restless patient who demanded superior service. The real question is why? I'll leave that to past and future patients who had surgery with Ellis.<br><br>Perhaps this shop is optimizing for volume and differentiating on price, do better Ellis, your future patients deserve it!
