I recently went to a wedding at Dimilios. First off, the location is beautiful. It's located on this strip of touristy attractions and street performers. The traffic moves incredibly slow as there is tons of foot traffic. I'm assuming it's like that in the fall and spring. So back to Dimilios. The owners of this place have a golden egg on their hand, and theyre not letting go. The view is a 9/10. The space is a 5/10. The food is a 7.10. The main issue I noticed was the " open bar ". Before you have a wedding here and pay for open bar. ** BE SURE TO READ THIS. ** There is a window about 4 feet wide that you lean into to order your drink. The two bartenders work together to get your drink for you. The line is absolutely gigantic! Never ending. This, to me, is not worth the money if you're paying for it. They had " open bar " for an hour, and then it changed to only open bar for wine and beer. So the delay's in traffic causes them to only serve a handful of free drinks. Interesting rub there.

stopped in for lunch here. Ordered broiled haddock and veggies. It was very good actually. The portion was small, but adequate. We had the bruschetta appetizer which was very good to split between two people. My company had a pasta dish which was excellent. All in all, I would recommend for lunch. Dinner looked pricey.

    DiMillo's is an adequate restaurant.

The food was OK. Soups were pretty good - the New England Clam Chowder was creamy and delicious, and the Lobster Stew had decent chunks of lobster meat in it. Nice little touches on the salads - fresh grapes and sunflower seeds.
My lobster was good.
My wife's scallops were overcooked.

The service was very, very rushed - I got the feeling that our waitress was really going flat-out. Even when they are, they should never seem like they are. The whole thing felt like what it is - a super-huge Tourist Destination Restaurant where you can get The Local Specialty with The Local Scenery. Possibly worth doing once.

If you go, get a lobster and the blueberry cobbler. Those were the two shining stars of the meal.

I enjoyed the location, water views, and history aboard the beautiful docked ship turned restaurant. Stars are deducted for prices that made me feel like I was back in New York City. It's probably one of the biggest tourist traps in Portland, so if you like that kind of stuff go for it... What's important to me is really good food and good value. Service was ok, food was good/ok, drinks were good, but I was left feeling duped. Looked like a place that could accommodate a large group well though; very spacious and lots of tables with a view.
