    Moved to the Quad Cities last year and needed a new eye doctor... where I found Eye Surgeon Associates. Before I had my visit I purposely called my insurance to confirm that this office WAS in network. I knew what my copay was and knew that I only should've left paying $60 TOTAL. Upon checking out after my visit, I was provided a $110 bill. I knew right off the bat that wasn't correct and inquired where those costs came from. Excuses were made how the doctor spent "more time with me" even though that wasn't the case - and that he was asking me questions just related to the Quad Cities and my move to the area. To me those questions and time during my exam felt genuine and hearing that I was being CHARGED more during that time is extremely disappointing. I was also supposedly charged more since my prescription "changed" however isn't the eye doctor supposed to do their job and adjust your prescription no matter what? My eyes went from a -2.00 to a -2.25. Didn't know there'd be consequences for that .25 change. I called several times asking for an itemized receipt and they would not provide that to me... just the automated excuses. I called my insurance and they told me to avoid this office and to shop around next time I need an exam, as an exam shouldn't cost $410 (before insurance) for my standard contact fitting. Oh and do I mention that this whole experience and bill is PRIOR to even getting contact materials! If others reading this are in a similar situation, I was told to go to Walmart and other retailers as they cannot price gauge and charge patients whatever they feel like it.

    My doctor was fantastic, everything else, not so much. Business practices? Money gouging. Don't bother with the canned response you post to bad reviews - I have moved on.
