I got my Lasik eye surgery done here with Dr. Melki last Friday. I have 20/15 vision now (earlier I had around -5.00 diopters on both eyes and astigmatism). Numbers aside, my vision is sharper than ever now; it is simply amazing. I was also a bit nervous before the procedure but when Dr. Melki worked on my eyes, I forgot about that and was occupied with following the instructions dont move, dont speak for 20 seconds for the flap creation, and then look at the red light for the second laser. You really want the surgery to go well, so thats all that counts. I went back to work the following Monday, and besides having a slight headache due to the lights at the office coming from everywhere, it was not a big deal. Every day my tolerance to light improves. I do see halos around lights at night, but they told me that it will improve over time as the cornea heals. So Ill just wait. Hell, its only been a few days since I got the surgery done, and Im so lucky it keeps getting better every day. And I realized one thing: the bedside manner is not important for a good Lasik surgery. What really counts is that they are very methodical and do not miss a single step during the surgery. This is your eyes. You dont want any mistakes. You need to be cool in your mind and have the experience for this. Why can surgeons not operate relatives or friends? Theres no place for emotions here. And later, when the surgery is done, all you care about is whether you have perfect vision. So then, please let the doctors do their work perfectly. You can get all the emotional attention from your friends etc. later! :)
