As a long term contact/glasses wearer, I have wanted LASIK since I was in high school and I am so glad I finally was able to have the procedure done. The doctors, nurses, and staff at Boston Vision are top tier and were so kind and helpful during my time with them. They answered all of my questions during my consultation and procedure and helped to put my worries at ease. The day of the procedure I was excited and nervous. They ran a couple of tests to make sure everything was good to go and 30ish minutes and a Xanax later I was ready to ditch my glasses and contacts for good. The procedure itself is pretty daunting but it only lasted about 15 minutes. They do everything they can to help you relax including allowing you to pick they music to listen to, choosing the light colors of one of the machines, and giving you a stress (eye)ball named Eye-rene. Most of what Id heard or read from the Boston Visions pamphlets happened to me. There was no pain but lots of pressure when cutting the flap in the eye. (I saw fireworks of red, blue, and green during this portion which was kind of cool. Go cones and rods!) The laser requires you to stay as still as possible and then it was over. When I sat up from the bench everything was in focus but it looked like I was looking through a layer of Vaseline. They did one final check and then I was sent on my way home. The recovery process has been a breeze honestly. I took my 4 hour nap and stayed religious on my drops and Ive had very little discomfort, dryness, or itchiness. Over the course of the first day (day of surgery) my eyesight continued to improve and by day 2 I was back at work. My eyes do get tired a bit quicker than they did before the surgery but Im sure that as time goes on and they heal up more, that will remedy itself. For now I use artificial tears, take naps, or rest my eyes as much as possible to help.
