I had PRK 6 days ago. The day of the procedure went well. Everything went smoothly and was relatively quick and painless. However, with that meant that I never actually saw my surgeon on that day. Youre brought into the surgery room and immediately laid down on the bed and one eye covered, there isnt even time to look around and see who is there or take in where you are. Then after they immediately move you out to get the next patient in. It would have been nice to have some time to take in the room and maybe even have a quick word with the surgeon. Also, I had a lot of problems with the prescriptions they sent in. The instructions sent to the pharmacy didnt match the instructions given to me the day of the surgery, so I ran out before my pharmacy was approved to dispense more from my insurance. However, more importantly, the original prescription wasnt even enough to last for the entire duration of how long I am supposed to take the drops so I ended up having to pay two extra co-pays that, had they written the prescription differently I wouldnt have had to pay. They ask you to bring your drops with you to the day of the surgery, but the tech never checked to make sure the quantities were appropriate.Overall, I would recommend this place to others, however, it wasnt perfect.

I did reach out to the officevto let them know about the issue with my lenses and they scheduled another eye exam in the Wellesley office. I have to say I had a much better experience visiting the Wellesley office it was quiet and the people were overly friendly and sincere! My prescription was incorrect and they corrected it and will now replace the lenses on the four pairs of glasses I bought. So overall I am extremely pleased with this experience.

Background info: combat athlete with horrendous nearsightedness (contact prescription was -5.50 in one eye and -5.25 in the other) and an astigmatism in one eye. Didnt qualify for Lasik because Lasik weakens the cornea and physical contact can rip it off, but wanted PRK to begin with, since PRK also doesnt have any risk of corneal infections.I got PRK over a year agowhile the appointment itself where I was talking with Dr. Melki seemed a bit uninformed and short, as well as not terribly welcoming (I had done a ton of research beforehand and I ended up not being told very much about the procedure or otherwise; luckily I already knew the answers to most questions I had), the surgery itself was very quick, incredibly easy, and surprisingly painless. The surgical assistants and nurses were wonderful; all staff other than the Dr was wonderful.I *would* recommend that Dr. Melki be a bit more engaged and informative with his patients, since, had I gone in there not knowing anything, I would have come out of there not being given a lot of valuable information. While i was confident in my decision from my own research, HE did not make me feel more confident about it, which wasnt great. Overall, Id rather a very good surgeon over someone with a great bedside manner, and he absolutely knows what hes doing, but I do think he may not have as many patients feeling very confident in his abilities if he doesnt offer more verbally thorough exams. I think other doctors might be better for people who are unsure or uncomfortable about going in for surgery.Follow-up exams with the assistants were easy, instructions on post-surgery care were accurate, and overall, great experience.FANTASTIC investment. I would absolutely go back if I needed to have any revision work done in the future (though lets cross our fingers my eyeballs say 20/20, though!).

First things first, the surgical team, and staff are tremendous. I felt comfortable and safe with all of the procedures that were happening with me, and when someone is cutting a flap in your eye and then shooting lasers into it, that is all you can ask for. The waiting room is comfortable, and has some fantastic music (old school Sinatra and Dean martin and all that, personal favorites here). The reason that I cant give it a 5 star review is the wait time. I have a feeling there were some extenuating circumstances that caused some delays in their processing of surgical patients on the day that I was treated with LASIK surgery. What is a typical 2-3 hour wait turned into a 5.5 hour wait. Even still, I would hands down trust Dr. Melki and Dr. Raja in treating my eyes again, and even with that wait the decision to get LASIK from the team at Boston Laser was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. Their slogan, If its LASIK, its Boston Laser could not be more true, and if you want to be seeing perfectly after ten minutes of surgery, I would highly recommend seeing the professionals of Boston Laser!
