I heard an ad on the radio and decided to call the 800 number to see what Lasik was all about. I felt like the information that they gave me was accurate, but I feel that the company was omitting a layer of information. I did not feel comfortable doing my procedure here.

I give this place one star because I feel that the services provided could be better. I did a consultation here and was unimpressed with the facilities and customer service that Ellis Eye & Laser Medical Center provided.

I did not do my procedure here because I found that the business was not catering to me and my needs. This place lacks organization and their facilities seems to have poor upkeep. Ellis caters to those looking for a less expensive procedure, or those on the fence to save a few hundred dollars.

I would not doubt the effectiveness of a procedure done here as apposed to a high tier Lasik facility, but I would not want to risk being a patient with a less-than-ideal outcome with Ellis Eye & Medical Center.

Edit:
I would recommend Newman Lasik, their facilities and staff are jaw dropping. Take the time and make an appointment at both, it is after-all--your eyes. Compare the differences and please feel free to comment on this.

This review hit their nerves! but this is true. READ IT! They delete it once already.

I had my eye surgery November 11, 2011 in San Jose clinic and this is the worst by far the worst decision I've done in my life. We arrived in his clinic on time @ 2:00pm and the whole waiting room was full. I waited a good 3 hours before he operated on me. In the middle of the procedure, he aborted the surgery because it was cut too deep on the first layer of my Right eye. This was supposed to be the safest alternative to their Standard Lasik. "Epi-Lasik". They tried to explain what happened to my husband and I, but I was so disappointed and in pain to get mad. It's more than 2 weeks now and my Right eye is still blurry . All the follow up was met and I'm still very depressed because my vision is not back to the same vision I had. They just keep on telling me to wait for it to heal maybe 4-6 months. On my last appointment they finally realized that they did not educate us about the risk of the procedure. At first follow up my husband and I got really upset because the surgeon kept saying it was " The Act of God " that's why this happened. The surgeon's associate phycisian also said that some people can get used to working with just one eye and he's been with Ellis Eyes since 1991 and this is the first time he encountered this problem. I've been out of work ever since and my husband was out for a week and they still don't have a defenite answer to when I will get my clear vision back. I'm really bothered by this whole experience and hopefully this will get others to do intense research first before making the decision to have this procedure. Hopefully this will give you a better perspective on having this kind of procedure. Now tell me what is false on writing this!

I had lasik at this office. But I would never recommend this doctor to anyone.
These are the bad experiences I had there.

Other doctors, not Dr. Ellis, do the pre-test, so there is more chance to fail. (Not like what they said, my first surgery failed. So I had very inconvenient life for more than 3 months before the second surgery.)

Then, they charged extra big dollars for the second surgery. I could not believe it.

Dr. Ellis and the managing lady became rude when they heard complaints. (He looked and sounded like a sales person, not a doctor.)

Office was small and always crowded with Latino patients, therefore, long waiting time.

Watch out ! He is dangerous ! I went to his office in jan 2011 for any LASIK procedure consultation and He was my first doctor ! I so thankful of God for rescuing me from him otherwise he would have already taken out my clear and healthy natural eye lenses ! To make the story short , I am 27 with extreme myopia nearsightedness of -19 . At the visit , first he did not meet me himself , his nurse named James did all the measurements and finally told me that Dr Ellis says the only option we have for u is the Refractive Lens Exchange called RLE, it is where they take out ur natural lens and replace it with artificial one , just like cataract for older people . I did not have a lot of info about RLE so I came home and started my homework , after a long time of research I found out that RLE at my age is not even FDA approved and it is extremely risky . It's biggest risk is retina detachment ! So I kept looking for other doctors in the area and further ! I did found that there is another safe and FDA approved procedure for me called Vissian ICL , it is where they implant a lens in front of your natural lens so just few weeks ago I did the surgery with Dr Mark Vopicelle and now I see sharp and vision is in excellent condition , no need for glasses or contacts ! My advise do not go to just one doctor and do a lot of homework ! Never go to Ellis !

I went in to the San Jose location for just a consultation and eye exam for the Lasik procedure. I arrived right on time for my appointment and the waiting room was full no seats available. Then waited 45 minutes to have my name called and at that point was told it would be another 30-45 minutes before I was completed.

I did not stay, I decided to leave. I waited too long not to have been seen.
