Lobster roll and crab roll for lunch was outstanding but pricey. Well prepared, very fresh and nicely presented.

First I'll admit that this post is on behalf of my grandmother, who's not a fan of the computer. But she was raving so much about her fried haddock at DiMillo's, that I thought I must post it. She's in her 80s and from Maine and she keeps saying how it was the best haddock she's ever had. So if you like fish, get to DiMillo's. (My stepfather, who is also from Maine, agreed wholeheartedly with her.)

If they still have the blueberry cobbler, apple crisp, and/or fudge cake, they are all the best you'll ever have.

And I could live off the clam chowder, lobster stew, and bread. If you like haddock, you'll love their haddock chowder.

If you don't like seafood, at lunch I love their cajun chicken club. It's the only club sandwich I've ever actually liked. It's amazing.

The seafood scampi is also the best I've ever had.

P.S. I'm from Portland, so I know a thing or two about seafood too.

Excellent! We loved this wonderful place. Ate outside, great views. All we seen on reviews were tourist trap. Not at all. The food was one of the best on our 8 day trip. We loved the seafood! Lobster, scallops, shrimp, haddock. The wonderful mashed potatoes. The story of DiMillo's of how it took a vision of a floating restaurant and how all the banks would not loan the money due to this far fetched idea. DiMillo borrowed money $1,000 from many of his friends, then paid them off in $1,200 in food. I can't recall how much money it brings in yearly, but it is astronomical. Highly recommend if you are in Portland.

Fell in love with DiMillo's, the famous jumbo Shrimp Bloody Mary had us coming back for more. yesterday had an amazing lunch and then went back for their awesome happy hour - free buffet and discount on Drinks. you must try this place you will be a fan.
Decor is amazing in the sense you feel and are treated as if on a fine dining cruise (ship is permanently docked) someone should tell the staff, they are in full 5 star cruise mode. the food is beyond fresh and delicious, the only problem is you cant decide what yummy treats to have - I say do like us (if you can stomach and afford to) try a few things and share!!
the happy hour little buffet is perfect for a pre dinner treat, but we had had lunch here not 2hrs prior so were still full so we just picked at it...go enjoy and you'll be happy you did!
bon appetit & bon Voyage!

Every single person we talked to about our upcoming weekend in Portland, ME warned us of the 'tourist trap floating restaurant'. It was nearly a running joke. However, on an off-season Sunday, we were looking for one last meal. Most of the places recommended to us turned out to be closed and we had had a less than stellar experience at J's Oyster the night before, so our bartender at Gritty's suggested we check this place out.

We arrived around 5:00 and were seated promptly in a great window seat. Our server was Kat, who was engaging and friendly, yet respected the fact that we were having our last date night of vacation. We ordered the 2 for $24 lobster special (one steamed and one baked-stuffed) as well as the mussels, mashed potatoes, and fried calamari. It was absolutely everything we wanted and more- we cracked lobster while wearing plastic bibs and eating delicious assorted seafood on the water. The real shocker was the price- $66 for the two of us to eat lobster and have drinks?!? So satisfying at such a reasonable cost.

The best part, however, came later. While settling into our seats on Amtrak an hour after dinner, I realized I had left my sweater and debit card there. I called to make sure they were still there and they immediately asked me my address and told me they were mailing it out. They wouldn't even let me pay the shipping & handling! We could not have made a better dinner decision.
