The office people were all great. My second surgery however was not a pleasant experience. The anesthetist was rude and uncaring about my feelings. I was not comfortable and she refused to give me more medication. I was wide awake for the whole procedure and scared to death. I made it very clear that I was not comfortable and no one seemed to care. I felt like i was on an assembly line and they just wanted to get me through as quickly as possible. M y first surgery was so much less scary and I felt they were much more caring about what I was going through and how I felt. Through the whole process I spent a total of 3 minutes with Dr. Weinstock. No one wants to feel like they are rushed through any surgical process.

Did not ask if I had any questions, was unfriendly, & waited over 30 min past appointment to be called.

My wifes experience with the Eye Institute of West Florida was mixed. We were completely satisfied with the medical care and its outcomes. We were completely dissatisfied with their business practices. Understandably surgery and insurance can introduce uncertainties into a patients final out of pocket cost. These never arose in my wifes case. Initially, before, and after the operation (3 times), we were quoted an un-contingent exact and consistent bottom line figure. Nevertheless, we were subsequently billed for more, without explanation. Two polite letters to the medical director failed to yield any response.

Dr. Desai did my cataracts. The first eye came out great, the second was a disaster. Dr. Desai was rude about it. I waited almost 2 hours for him to look at it and then he tried to blame it on me. The Eye Institute is a factory. All they are concerned about is pushing people through and collecting fees. If something goes wrong they aren't nice or prompt about addressing it. If I had know about all the pain and suffering I would have to go through, I wouldn't have done it. I am still in pain.

Don't get started with this place. They pass you around among their doctors so that everyone makes their nut. They bill you and don't tell you what services they're billing you for. You wait 2 hours for an appointment where the doctor is in and out in 2 minutes. They suggest surgery you don't need.STAY AWAY!
