I visit the eye doctor annually. After 12 months from my first visit with this doctor, I got this nastily worded letter saying to the effect "You haven't been here in a year- make an appointment now or we will delete your records". Maybe this is a proper policy for them to have, but the letter was phrased so unprofessionally and aggressive that I never returned. You ever get that bad feeling about a business?

The Eye Institute in St. Pete was recommended by a friend who told me to see Dr. Sackstein (not sure of his last name). I walked in, gave my name and sat down to wait. I hear my name being called by someone at the main desk, which is huge with room for maybe 8-10 to work there at once, and yelling to tell me to go over to go to the side where she was. I handed her the forms I printed from their website and filled out and did not even get thanked. Then they want you to sign several forms. They use electronic signatures where you sign your name on a pad. But you can't see what you're signing! There's four laminated forms held together for you to read, then supposedly they're in order of the forms that you sign. Since she didn't show me her screen, I have no idea if she was telling me the truth. I could have been selling her my car! She never told me her name nor did she wear a badge, but she was so unfriendly, not smiling, being very short and condenscending when answering questions. Then with a wave of her hand, told me to sit in any of the waiting rooms. After a half hour of waiting, with only a gentleman in the room, someone comes to my waiting room and calls my first and last name out loud! Seriously!! I was the only woman in the room! She did an eye exam and towards the end, finally told me her name. Then it was back to the waiting room to wait for the doctor. He was very respectful, friendly and patient. I would have given them only one star if not for him. Bottom line - I will never go back there. I will never stay with a place that is so anti-patients! No courtesy, no friendliness, no compassion or concern. I deserve better and so do you.

After my initial eye exam my prescription had changed. I ordered the new glasses and after 7 days they were ready. I tried them on and the right eye was off. They told me to give it a few weeks as sometimes eyes need to adjust. I did and it did not help. So I went back only to find out they made the lens wrong. I ordered the correct one and after 44 days finally called to see if it was in. I was then told that it was in and a message was left for me 20 days earlier. I told her that I never received any messages from them. She told me that I must be mistaken because she had a note stating that they had. Poor customer service is an understatement. In addition to that, the anti glare coating has already started to come off. I would check around before settling in on them .Good luck!

With my husbands new job he had the opportunity to get vision insurance which means his first new pair of glasses in three years! We went to The eye institute for his eye exam. His insurance covered $150 and all of their glasses were well over $200. Being young newlyweds we simply cannot afford that as much as we'd like to! When we had to leave, we asked for his PD number so that we could order some less expensive online through an affordable website many of our family and friends have used for years. She refused to give it to us saying, "we can't do that" and "don't buy glasses online". Needless to say we will not be going back to the eye institute. It's either my husband gets glasses or he doesn't and considering they are being held together by superglue, we're going with the glasses option!
