The doctor was extremely thorough, which is refreshing these days. It was a good experience.

Today was my first visit to The Eye Institute located on Howard Avenue (my eyes are still a bit blurry from the dilation so pardon any errors that may occur throughout this review, heh).

I like to begin with the good stuff first. This facility easily earns four stars due to its convenient location (close to home is always nice) and high-quality patient care. I am not the easiest or most cooperative patient and I absolutely hate surprises when it comes to my eyes, so when I didn't take to the pressure test very well (I have been accustomed to Lenscrafters' air puff pressure test), the technician had two very kind doctors come in and complete the procedure. I felt bad occupying more of their medical talent than I had signed up for but if they were at all inconvenienced, they never gave me any sort of signal; they were consistently prompt, courteous and happy to answer any/all of my questions regarding the eye exam(s).

Now for the bad stuff - and there isn't much. There was a minor miscommunication during the billing process that was quickly rectified by the medical staff. The only other qualm I had was the inconvenient method they use for collecting patient information. When I called to book the appointment, they did not offer me any opportunity to fill out any kind of paperwork in advance (I was sure that there would be plenty to complete). Low and behold, after being seated in my chair for 10 minutes, the receptionist called me over to fill out an 8-10 page stack. I felt that my appointment time could have been handled more efficiently if I had received these papers online (as many medical providers offer now) or at least immediately upon checking in.

In sum, I would definitely recommend the Eye Institute of West Florida (on Howard) to anyone in need of an eye exam or other routine visit!

Adam you were right on target. be thankful you walked out when you did. He is unprofessional has agod complex, and DON'T whatever you do disagree or question him.My husband has been a patient there for ten years and sees two other Drs. Hairston and Greenridge who are professional, sympathetic and listen to your concerns. But desai I wouldn't let operate on my deceased dog.Four cornea operations later and my dear husband of fifty years still can't see.For a year and a half every time we left his office we thanked him for allhe had done and he shook our hands while having some glorified clerk do his dirty work, sneaking around the building questioning techs, (supposedly) SAYING I UPSET OTHER PATIENTS and, staff, none who have ever said anything to my face, but a few techs had plenty to say about Ms House. He tried to have me thrown out of the clinic a year and a half ago, Dr. Weinstock readmitted me. My husband was 78 deaf and partially blind. He never got over the fact that I went over his head. It all started because I asked him to call Medicare to see if they would pay for some new trial surgery he was going to do on me. "Well he just puffed himself all up ". That's when the backstabbing began the clerk would hide behind post if I talked to a tech or a staff member she would be there questioning them as to what I said always repeating in a whispering voice every time she sees me Mrs B, your being rude we've been down this road before you know the dr. doesn't want you in his exam room. Where were his stones for that year and a half telling me to my face instead of smiling and shaking our hands.. He had a clerk follow me around listening and watching me to see if they could make another go at me.My husband has called four times to get an appointment with Dr. Weinstock, saying they would get back to him. Then told him it had already been decided. He said well you haven't heard my side. Please anyone who reads Adam's complaint and mine should seriously consider other options. Our jewish family members in concentration camps were treated more honestly. You just don't expect that kind ofbehavior from a so called professional.. If they are so concerned about their patients they should stop the 2,3 and once a 5 hour wait.patients. I could go on and on but out of respect for Dr. Weinstock and the great techs and staff I will not give out their names and what they had to say about Ms. House. the stars are for the two wonderful Drs. he sees. He wants to leave the institute, but I won't let him sacrifice hiseyes, he still had the two great doctors. My mother always said no matter how good you think you are there is someone better..
