I recently had Dr Fakadej do my cataract surgery and she was fantastic. Took the time to explain my options in great detail. Highly trained and did excellent work.If this was just a review of Dr Fakadej I would give her 5 stars. I give Carolina Eye Associates 4 stars because while they have an outstanding team, offering high quality care- this is a high volume operation so you need to be prepared for extensive wait times as you are shuffled from one waiting room to the the next.I was told this was how it was, so I was prepared with work and reading materials.Their phone answering system is terrible, and they rarely return calls. I had an enormously difficult time getting my surgery scheduled after the initial evaluation, but persistence paid off.Would I recommend them? Yes I would based on the quality of the physicians. However, go into this realizing that it will be an extremely slow process once you are there.

Carolina Eye Associates take very good care of their patients. The only issue I would have with them is the waiting times. Patients have to wait to see the nurse/technician who takes initial information, then wait for a room, then wait for the doctor, then wait to check out at the end of the visit. This is somewhat frustrating!

The care and eye surgery outcome was great but the exhausting wait and never ending labyrinth of waiting rooms and sub-waiting rooms was too much. I would never have agreed to one day care if I had any idea it was that grueling. They are very honest upfront that it is a long day, 6-8 hours. I had the other eye previously done so my frame of reference was based on that experience. This was nothing like that. Same outcome, good eyesight, but the process was a bit overwhelming. I saw so many people that I could not even count them. A return visit the next day for a simple post-op check was 1:45 minutes. The eye is better, no cataract, but be prepared to wait and then wait some more.
