The wait was long (40min). The staffs were mixed of very nice and not so (the male staff was particularly less helpful/patient). Dr. Moreira made me feel unwelcome perhaps for the fact that I didnt have a disease (which is good) that needed to see her (I could see an optometrist). But to just explain about my vision, she didnt want to take time to do it. I cant possibly take my eyeglasses off to adjust my reading because I know I would not be able to see anything if I take them off but thats what she told me to do to correct my vision during this transitional time (from being short eyesight to long eyesight). I feel that she could ask me a little more about my concerns and how I read. But, it may be because she felt that I should have not made an appointment with her but with an optometrist instead, so I was wasting her time (and other patients time).

Went for cataract surgery. Right eye went fine. One week later left eye. I was in so much pain. She put a collagen shield in and never told me why. I went to have it checked by one of her docs and he said there was a huge abrasion . He called her to take out the shield, and never explained why its in there. Went to another doctor and she said a peice of cataract broke off and is still in my eye. I have to go for another surgery. She cant be trusted.

Cataract surgery nightmare save your vision and go to another doctor!!My dad went to Neilson to have Cataract surgery. The surgery went well, aside from the fact that the doctor takes a photo with you right after surgery....that is a little odd. He went to his follow up the next day and the doctor said everything was good. His vision was blurry but Dr Nielsen said that was normal. Over the next few days he noticed that his vision was worse than it was before surgery, also he now had a gray spot in the center of his vision. We made an appointment with Dr Nielson who referred him to a retina specialist (who is in Dr. Nielsen's office) The retina specialist (Dr Weiter) said that it was swelling and gave him prescription eye drops and told him to come back in about a month. My dad followed the instructions and he still could not see well. At the follow up Dr Weiter explained to my dad that the swelling was gone, but his vision was not going to improve from what it was now. He didn't explain why his vision is now WORSE than before surgery. My dad asked the doctor if there was anything that could be done. The doctor told him there are no magic eyedrops or anything he can do, he finished the appointment by telling my dad not to worry that Babe Ruth only had vision in one eye and he could hit a ball going 90mph.....yes he really said that!We got a second opinion from a doctor not affiliated with Nielsen. This doctor is highly recognized and was referred by numerous people. The doctor said that my dad had Macular degeneration. Macular degeneration is a condition of the eye, he has it in both eyes so the eye surgery did not cause it. However, according to the doctor the condition should have been recognized and the cataract surgery should have NEVER been done. The doctor warned him against getting the other eye done or the same would happen. Nothing can be done my dad will NOT get his vision back. I wanted to post his story so it doesn't happen to another person. My dad can barely see out of the eye that was operated on it is not able to be helped by glasses like it was before. Once your vision is gone you cant get it back so be careful who you trust with your eyes.

I had a similiar experience. They said I would have to pay $35 for a refraction which has always been covered by my vision insurance. When i told the tech to bill me she said it would be $50 if they billed me. I left without having the exam. This place is ripoff. I would stay far away!!! I am in the process of reporting them to the proper authorities. I had already paid a $30 copay, which I believe should be returned to me. All they care about is money. Stay away from this practice!
