I was a patient of Dr. Berman when I was a child. I had surgery twice to fix strabismis. He did such a great job that other eye doctors have said they wouldn't be able to tell I ever had strabismis if it wasn't in my chart. Two of my children are now patients of Dr. Berman

Dr. Cady has been my ophthalmologist fo many years and I am always very pleased with the care I receive from him and his staff of associates. Dr. Cady is very professional, taking time to listen to my concerns and explain things in a clear and easy to understand way. I never feel rushed when I have an appointment. I recently had cataract surgery with Dr Cady doing the procedure and it was a quick and easy process. I give Dr Cady and his staff an A+ rating for their knowledge and professionalism as well as their excellent interpersonal skills that make me feel well received and well taken care of as a patient.

My name is Mercedes E. Villamil and I am a patient of Dr. R. Samuel Cady at Maine Eye in Portland, Maine.I had cataracts removed on Dec. 3, 2019 and on January 28, 2020.Both procedures went exceedingly well. There are not enough superlatives to describe the excellent care I received from Dr. Cady and his staff. Bear in mind that I am an anxious person but Dr. Cady put me at ease with his patient and kind demeanor and his professionalism. I was a patient of Dr. Berman from the time I was weeks old until I was 22. I see many people complaining about the wait time. I don't think they understand that Dr. Berman is one of the ONLY pediatric eye doctors who also perform surgeries in the state of Maine. He has performed two eye surgeries on me, and seen me yearly my whole life. He may not always be the friendliest, but he is good at his job. He probably would like to spend more time with each patient, but the volume is so ridiculous that he can't. I now see Dr. Whitney Miller, but Dr. Berman told me to go back to him should my lazy eye become more pronounced. He cares about his patients, but has likely had to sacrifice some of his bedside manner for efficiency. The question is, how can we encourage more pediatric eye surgeons to come to Maine? There is a shortage of quality eye doctors. My sympathies to all those with screaming kids, to the kids at the eye doctor's in discomfort, and to Dr. Berman and his staff for being so overwhelmed.
