I am writing an update 2 years post Lasik. I have no ill will against Boston Laser itself but wanted to post an update regarding a complication that I had. Even though my vision was 20/20 immediately after the procedure, my vision did get slightly worse. Not too bad that I can complain or need glasses at this moment, but I always felt that even though I could see, my eye sight was always 95% at best. Its a really difficult feeling to describe but I can no longer experience that crystal clear vision that I had when I wore glasses and my eyes always feel a bit off (not anything related to my ability to see but my eyeballs itself feel off). I developed dry eye, starbursts, and halos which are extremely common. The dry eye got better over time but night vision is a little tough. These symptoms werent bad in my experience and they were things I could cope with. The other more significant complication was the developement of eye floaters. These are specks/cobwebs/stringy pieces in your vision and they are permanent. If youre watching TV, its like having a dead pixel on the screen. I have these specks in my vision now, and even though there is no research to prove that Lasik causes floaters, there is a correlation linking people who had Lasik done and them getting floaters later on. Hopefully more research will be done in the future so more people are aware. If you ask your eye doctor about floaters and they downplay this possible outcome, I would go to another doctor. (Please also note that people can get floaters with age, and floaters dont only occur because of eye surgery). If I could undo this procedure I would. Glasses/contact lenses are annoying, but Id rather deal with the annoyance than to see permanent specks in my vision. Side effects/complications arent the same for everyone, but please do your research on this procedure and know that your eyes are a really important asset. Ive had friends/family who have had eye surgery at this same facility and they had positive outcomes. But everyones eyes arent the same. Please dont take the gamble if you arent ready to face the risks involved.

Good place to get LASIK. After the first surgery left me still having a prescription, the enhancement surgery they performed was able to correct it only three months later. During that time they gave me free contacts and glasses to wear while I awaited the touch-up surgery.

I had PRK 6 days ago. The day of the procedure went well. Everything went smoothly and was relatively quick and painless. However, with that meant that I never actually saw my surgeon on that day. Youre brought into the surgery room and immediately laid down on the bed and one eye covered, there isnt even time to look around and see who is there or take in where you are. Then after they immediately move you out to get the next patient in. It would have been nice to have some time to take in the room and maybe even have a quick word with the surgeon. Also, I had a lot of problems with the prescriptions they sent in. The instructions sent to the pharmacy didnt match the instructions given to me the day of the surgery, so I ran out before my pharmacy was approved to dispense more from my insurance. However, more importantly, the original prescription wasnt even enough to last for the entire duration of how long I am supposed to take the drops so I ended up having to pay two extra co-pays that, had they written the prescription differently I wouldnt have had to pay. They ask you to bring your drops with you to the day of the surgery, but the tech never checked to make sure the quantities were appropriate.Overall, I would recommend this place to others, however, it wasnt perfect.

I did reach out to the officevto let them know about the issue with my lenses and they scheduled another eye exam in the Wellesley office. I have to say I had a much better experience visiting the Wellesley office it was quiet and the people were overly friendly and sincere! My prescription was incorrect and they corrected it and will now replace the lenses on the four pairs of glasses I bought. So overall I am extremely pleased with this experience.
