Today being approximately my 10th appointment here, I was prepared to post a scathing comment, remarking that the dozens of negative reviews here matched my experience. But somehow today everyone was courteous and competent, the waiting room *wasn't* jam-packed, and my appointment began on time. I'm not scheduled to return for a year so can't tell if this is a pattern, but it sure seems like somebody got their act together. <br><br>As background: Until today, although all 3 of the doctors I'd seen were pleasant and helpful, I had found the staff shockingly rude and/or condescending. The desk people would address me the way you'd talk to a 5-year-old, and most of the PAs had an abrasive temperament unsuited to anyone you'd ever want touching your eyes. Anticipating this treatment had actually made me dread my appointments. But today it felt like a substantially different, better place.<br><br>This visit happened shortly after Christmas. Maybe they were visited by 3 spirits....

Very knowledgeable, it's obvious she's an expert at what she does. After 5 long and uncomfortably gritty years and many optometrist visits, she was able to diagnose and recommend treatment in less than 30 seconds. Only complaint, Dr. Oxford is slow in and lightning fast out of the exam room; you better bring your lasso if you want to spend more than 1.5 minutes discussing treatment and condition specifics.

I'm quite happy with my experience at PEA. I've mostly seen Dr. Heiden and Dr. Ay and appreciate the time and care they take to deal with my wet macular degeneration, which requires injections directly into the eye among other things. The MAs are quite good as well, very personable and capable. I really have no complaints and don't understand others' problems with the desk staff there. You have to consider the volume of people that pass through, and all the insurance, co-pays and various disabilities they have to deal with in our crazy convoluted medical system. Actually, I think they've gotten better recently with the addition of a door person who gets you through more quickly. It's a tough job.The only reason I don't give PEA five stars is because I hesitate to tell other people where to go for treatment---it's gotten me into trouble before. I certainly would recommend PEA though if asked.

This is a 4-Star review with an asterisk. <br><br>I'll start with the positives first: <br><br>They really sped up the registration desk and it seems they hired at least two more people, a big plus.<br><br>I waited in the reception area for less than 15 minutes, a much smaller wait time than in the past. <br><br>The physician assistants are attentive and kind. This is a major improvement in customer service.<br><br>All of these improvements are welcome and it makes my coming to see Dr. Reader much easier. <br><br>But..<br><br>The reception and billing staff have a bad energy. They don't smile or seem pleasant. The reconfigured office is horrible like a room for jury duty or the DMV. <br><br>Someone needs to feng shui this place. <br><br>Please someone, turn on KDFC and ask your staff to be remotely pleasant and do something about the horrible seating in the waiting area. <br><br>All the seats facing forward, the abandoned and scattered eyewear areas give me the shivers. <br><br>Music, a long coffee table of magazines, two or three sofas would go a long way in making this purple and green '80s space less lifeless. <br><br>The four stars are for Dr. Reader, the PAs and the much speedier registration and reduced wait time for the doctor.

Dr Lin is part of a large 13 doctor high volume clinic that moves fast to service lots of people & they did a good job all around for me. But be prepared to pick up your pace when you arrive!
